We received a Blade Silver coupe with black tridents...... wheels look terrible. Makes me wonder if GM either owns stock in HRE or is getting kickbacks. They look awful. I have seen pics and thought they looked ok, but in person they are lifeless....

Found the problem. They only look good with certain colors and that's not one of them.
GM has done this basically forever on first year new model Corvettes. Look at the wheels in 1963, 1968 (the fugmo wire looking ones), 1984, 1997. 2005 they finally got a set right. With the C7 they were so so.
So in 7 generation changes one got decent looking wheels (C6) and one got wheels that were ok (C7) and the rest have managed to both suck and blow at the same time.
Eh... there are VERY few cars in existence who's stock wheels look better than anything offered by the aftermarket.
Considering this car can be optioned to slightly over $100,000 the stock wheel choices are a joke. Nearly every car in its price range has better looking stock wheels. The outgoing GS, Z06, ZR1 all had significantly better looking wheels (GS/Z06 wheel bending aside). Heck they carried over the cup wheels from the C6 to the C7, they could’ve easily carried over the C7 ZR1 wheels to the C8.
Chevy is Chevy & their history of putting cheap, ugly wheels on the Corvette continues...
We would never recognize certainly not appreciate the impact of the Z51 suspension. So we pass on this performance option and take the standard wheels. Then spend that $6000 plus another dollar or two on HRE wheels. Which we can appreciate. Everyday. And you can appreicate them with us.
honestly the base in carbon flash have really grown on me
dont like them in silver and would not pay the extra $$ for pewter
I'm sorry, but those are just absolutely awful. Might be my least favorite stock wheel since the wagon wheels on the C5. They really need to step up their wheel game for the Z06!
