All I can say is try and hang in there.

I understand everyone's desire to build all of these tracking lists and come up with all of these build statistics in an attempt to build a crystal ball into the production future - but if there's one thing we've learned in the last two years of C8 production - that we CAN bank on with certainty, is that - in the end - tracking lists and developing all of these build statistics mean nothing in the end. ANYTHING can change - and NOTHING is concrete.

While I've read a LOT of comments here from armchair quarterbacks criticizing GM for the shut down - a couple things to remember:

1. Whether or not you want to believe that this virus doesn't exist and this pandemic is purely political - it isn't. The virus is real, the pandemic is real, and its effects are bringing the ENTIRE automotive industry to its knees. The Bowling Green shut down next week is NOT GM'S FAULT. It is a supply chain issue as a result of this pandemic. And unless you've been living under a rock the last few months, you'll know that Ford, BMW, VW...almost all automotive manufacturers are being affected by this.

2. Did GM know they were going to have to close BGCA next week - yes, I believe they did, and I believe this isn't going to be the last one - hence the reason why June's allocation numbers are liquid and not set like they are for May. Now with that said - again, after reading comments here in this forum...an assembly line worker doesn't run to a shelf to get a box of screws and say "oh **** - I'm taking the last box of screws - we don't have any more - we're going to have to shut the line down for a week" - that's not how an automotive assembly line works. Allocation numbers given to dealers are based upon MANY factors - some of which are only known to you and me and some of which are only known to GM. I believe that one of those only known to GM is inventory - inventory of parts that go into the assembly of car.

GM knows it has enough..."screws" to attach a body panel for a set number of Corvettes for the month of May, but they also know that manufacturing of those screws is uncertain for the next few months - so they're trying to ascertain exactly how many of those screws they can get their hands on in order to determine how many cars they can build that require those screws. GM's ability to get their hands on those "screws" is at the mercy of the third-tier supplier responsible for manufacturing those screws.

Now, my explanation here may not be totally accurate - I don't work for GM or an automotive assembly line - but I've worked in manufacturing and inventory control for many years. I do not pity the poor people at BGCA that run Inventory Control for Corvette production - they've got to be going through hell the last year and half.

As end-users/customers - we just want to look at / care for the end result - a new Corvette in our garage. It's much easier to just say "GM sucks - blah...blah...blah..." than it is to take a few minutes and try to understand EVERYTHING that needs to converge in order for a car to roll off an assembly line.

I sent them an email about a month ago to find out what number a was after the 2020 people got shuffled in, I’m #101 now. I also changed my specs from a coupe to a HTC, among other things. I haven’t heard anything else back about entering the order into the workbench. I figure no rush at this point, I expect them to contact me in the next couple of weeks either before (or after) they enter it into the system.

I am #14 at MacMulkin and still no call. Sent an email and Christina and she said I will receive a call. Wonder why people with much higher numbers are getting calls and emails and I am getting nothing?

2020 orders are not just rolled over to a 2021 order. That is not the way the system works.
