Taking my first short distance road trip my brand new 2020 C8 with just 600 miles on it and still babying it in it’s break in period. Out of the blue doing 70 miles an hour in tour mode on I 95 in South Carolina, there was a BANG and sudden serious vibration that felt like I was an earthquake. The vibration was so bad I thought all four wheels were going to fall off. Called OnStar and they told me to take it to the nearest Chevy dealer 10 miles away. Now five days later I am told a valve spring broke, God knows how, and they are replacing all 16 valve springs at a small dealership in Lumberton, North Carolina. Now, you tell me how a month old, brand new Corvette with less than 600 miles on it breaks a valve spring? God knows what other damage was done, possibly a dropped valve, scored cylinder or a piston or totally trashed engine! And to think I waited a year for this car!!!

I know you are new to the forum. Welcome! You have some catching up to do. There have been a batch of broken valve springs reported. Just do a search on here.
In the meantime, you will be fine. New spring or springs and you will have a fantastic car. I'm glad they are replacing all of them. Many have reported that they just replaced the broken one.
Edit; chromebumper guy post #2 above already gave you a link,

Here is what happened to some 911 owners. Now this is self destruction:

I'll tell you as will this site. GM has a known valve spring issue. Window of production for possible failure is June 1, 2020 to October 7, 2020.
#PIP5752F: Service Engine Light Misfire Engine Noise With DTC P0300 P0106 P0506 - (Oct 28, 2020) Subject: Service Engine Light Misfire Engine Noise With DTC P0300 P0106 P0506CorrectionDuring inspection if you determine that the engine has a broken valve spring it will be necessary to perform a cylinder leakage test on the affected cylinder.
If no cylinder leakage is observed and the vehicle is built between June 1, 2020 to October 7, 2020:
For engines with RPOs L82, L84 and L8T replace the affected valve spring, if the vehicle is built between June 1, 2020 to October 7, 2020.
For 6.2L engines RPOs L87, LT1, LT4 and LT2 It will be necessary to replace all valve springs on both banks if the vehicle is built between June 1, 2020 to October 7, 2020.
Note: Brand Quality has placed the following Part number for 2020, 2021 6.2L L87, LT1, LT2, LT4 valve springs on a Technical Assistance Center part restriction
P/N 12691120 - 6.2L L87, LT1, LT2, LT4Please add any pictures of the concern to the case that will help with the diagnostics.
Check for a damaged intake manifold runner for the cylinder with the concern.
00-06-01-026M: Engine Replacement After Severe Internal Engine Damage -Replace Intake Manifold
If you determine that engine has cylinder leakage it will be necessary to inspect further to determine the extent of the engine damage to determine correct repair required;
For 6.2L engines RPOs L87, LT1, LT4 and LT2 that has engine damage please follow PIP5759 for engine restriction.
Important: All valve springs will be requested back for further analysis and inspection.

My car 2 day build was October 7 & 8. Now is the June 1, 2020 - October 7, 2020 window of production for the car or the engine? And if it is for the car, I may have made it by one day.

Top of the first paragraph in the PI I quoted.

I wouldn't count on it. They originally had a much smaller window of vehicles that may be affected, and then they extended the window to include more vehicles. I wouldn't hold my breath that it doesn't get extended again.
Sorry this happened OP, as others have already stated, this is a known issue, among others here on the forum but doesn't seem to be getting out to new owners. I spoke with several C8 owners this weekend who were unaware of any of the reported issues or recalls on the vehicle thus far.
It seems like if a valve spring is going to fail related to this issue, it happens pretty quick. I had a 8/21 build date and have 2,200 miles on mine with no issues. Some of those miles have been beating the crap out of it and it's not even broken a sweat. I want to think I'm in the clear but who knows really.

If it’s going to happen, it usually happens before 852 miles.

Have you not read anything about this in the news, this forum, received notices from GM? You found this forum is been all over it. They will replace all 16 and you'll be good to go.
IDK you guys really like to bend over and accept this crap???? Hes tooling along at 70......... engine breaks and you all assume down the road there wont be a problem????? You'll be fine??? Easy to type, better to hope.
Each to their own but if I intended to keep my C8 long term..........which I don't I had one of these cars it would be gone in a heartbeat.
No one knows the long term damage these sprigs breaking causes.

I had a first year C6 with the crank pulley bolt problem. After they fixed it, that issue was fine. Of course, so many other things were wrong with that car too, but I've had 3 more C6's since then and hope to get my C8 in the spring. My order was for a 2020, now it's a 2021. I still expect problems, and it's under warranty. My plans have never been to keep the 2021. It will be traded within 3 years for a C8 Z06...hopefully by then they will have solved the teething pains.
I’m sorry guys and I’m sure someone will set their hair on fire because I even mention it, but how can you comfortably drive these cars anywhere. Long trips would be a real crap shoot. Chevy needs to recall ALL these cars before someone gets hurt.

I picked up my c8 a month ago 300 miles away. Needless to say I was terrified driving it home knowing there's a good possibility that I could be stranded on the side of the road due to the valve spring issue. My car was built on 9/4 which was in the time frame of the issue. Knowing it was an early failure I put 80 miles on it driving back roads not far from my dealer then drove it home just fine. A week and a half later I took it on a 2100 mile road trip and all was well. Best car I have ever owned or even driven!
