Official Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic Color Thread
Hi Guys:
Been awhile since I posted anything, at least since my 1999 C-5 days! After a rather lengthy hiatus (kids....mini-van...) I am looking at getting back into the Corvette. I have been looking at the range of colors and wanted to ask whether anyone has gone for, or at least seen first hand, the CMG color? I like the way it looks on-line, but hard to tell exactly. Are there any members with that color which may be able to share some photos? Thanks!
Saw one up close last weekend. To be it’s in a weird place between white and light grey. It does have a hint of powder blue, especially when next a darker grey. I didn’t like it.
Didn’t snap a pic of the C8, but here’s a C7 ZR1 in Ceramic Matrix next to a Cyber Grey.
It's a carryover C7 color so you should be able to see it in person somewhere.
As others have said, it's almost off-white or light grey with a definite undertone of blue. Personally, I'm not a fan, but that's why they offer different colors.
I would have preferred they offered something closer to Nardo Grey or Chalk.

I had a close look at CMG a couple of days ago and I brought my wife to look at it. The car is owned by someone local to me.
The color is metallic and has a very faint blue tinge. The fellow who owns it said he bought that color to make it look cleaner when actually covered in dirt ... and it does look clean.
I am going with Vette Stripes who offer two tone stripes for the C8.
Here is an example on an ELB C8.
On the CMG, I will use a darker blue central part (silver shown on the ELB) and a lighter blue exterior strip (black shown on the ELB).
The two color I am looking at from the Vette Stripes website are both metallic and are:
For the outside stripe and for the inside trim.
Both of these colors are from the Oracal 970RA color chart found on this page: https://www.vettestripes.com/colors/
Chevy's double blue stripe looks Ok, as seen below but costs 2 to 3 times as much as that from vettestripes.com.
So I just got my order assigned to an allocation yesterday for an early 2021 coupe. I had too long to think about so I kept changing my mind. I started with CMG when I placed the order in Jan, then went to white, then black, then rapid blue and finally put the order in at CMG. It's a beautiful color and reminds me of the destroyer gray Dodge uses but lighter. Lighting also affects the way it looks. There is a hint of blue but I think overall it leans more towards gray, especially if you have a lot of black accents. There is a ceramic matrix gray official color thread on this forum somewhere, might be the C7 forum, but there are good pics with the same car in white and CMG right next to each other. You really have to see it in person so I would hunt down a C7 in CMG if I were you.
It's very "powder-blue" in the sun, in my opinion. I didn't like it.
Ditto - At first it was my top choice until I saw it in real life. Then, even in pics, too much blue hue and I don't like blue cars.
It's like a gray car trying to be blue.
