How did this pass Quality Control?
This afternoon I got a call from my dealership that my car had just arrived. My wife and I were there in 15 minutes to witness the unveiling. It's a beautiful car, but somehow the EFY option for body color accents was recognized on the main body, but not the doors. The car was made with the boomerang accent body color on the main body, but carbon flash metallic on the door portion. The dealer is checking with GM on how to resolve this issue while the service department performs the PDI. I can't believe it passed QC in Bowling Green when it's obvious the colors don't match.

Ummmm.......
Should be an easy fix. Congrats on your new C8 - it's beautiful!
- It's a new option - enables the new owner to decide in person which they want in case they might change their minds
- You have a very unique car - 1 of 1. Hopefully.

Looks like you may have a rare 1 of 1...

I wonder if this is due to the pressure of keeping the assembly line going at a fast pace so they can complete all 2020s this year.

Matching colors probably wasn't on the checklist.

Damn. This is one of the worst fails I have seen when it comes to automotive QC. Its almost unbelievable.

I like the body-colored trim piece.... but, you get a free test.... pick what you want, and stick GM with the bill....
My country wisdom tells me if they got this wrong, they got the rest right.... congrats, on the car BTW...

Just another example of what happens when union contracts prevent firing for performance (or any other reason)...you get workers who just don't care.

Unfortunate, but that door trim piece does have a white protective cover/film installed while on the BGA Production Line, so I can understand how the incorrect body color trim was not identified until that cover/film was removed during PDI. Does other side have same issue? Fortunately this is a relatively easy defect for the Dealer to repair and we hope that goes smoothly for the OP. -Rick

As for "how it happened," the doors are pre-assembled off the main assembly line, and then the complete door assembly is attached to the car. So the guys assembling the door missed the EFY option code. But the guys attaching the doors to the car should, you think, flag this as an issue to be fixed before the car leaves the plant. And if not the line workers, the QC team.
