When I hit the Frunk release getting ready to drive my new C8 it did not click or move
but was limited to 26 MPH. Took it to Dealer slowly but they could not figure it out and
said to bring it back after Holidays. My boy found the cable release and opened and shut
it which fixed to speed problem. Anyone have this issue?

Sounds like it didn't pop up from the electronic method but registered it open limiting the speed. The cable is mechanical and probably did a better job of completely releasing the trunk. I can't believe this is still happening.
I think this is likely to be a continuing problem with the 2-stage latch design, incorporating both safety and primary latches in the same mechanism. At least, GM changed the software to prevent fly-opens blinding the driver suddenly so no one gets killed because of an innocent oversight.
I suspect we'll see a modified latch design once GM realizes this problem is going to continue, and software changes aren't going to fix the OP's problem. The open question is whether it will be retrofitted to existing cars.
Some latches seem to be OK at present, but some clearly are more finicky. That makes one wonder whether they will "age" well. It also suggests a design prone to malfunction.

I "suspect" since they did not have the problem with 1 million Corvairs that did NOT have a manual push/pull with your hand mechanical lever for the safety latch- they will not!

1 million Corvairs didn't have an electronic release or a required child safety release in the frunk either. I suspect when the Corvair frunk lid was down in any position the safety latch was automatically engaged preventing pop up. Most modern latches today are single assemblies, but there are two independent latches (safety and primary) mounted to the same assembly.
The C8 cable release seems to work well. Perhaps they should just put a proper handle on it under the dash, and the live with the mad owners complaining about why their electronic release doesn't work and why their cars are stuck at 26 mph. That's a simple design mod allowing them to keep the same mechanism and that a dealer could actually find. Then, keep their fingers crossed that the electronic child escape button works when a child gets trapped in the frunk and/or NHTSA doesn't find out about it when it doesn't.
I have same issue. Frunk closed, and can’t be opened with fob or door switch. Dash warning says it’s open and I’m limited to 26 mph. You said your son found the cable and opened it manually. How? Where is cable and how did he secure and pull it to open stunk frunk?

There's a manual release cable located above the brake pedal in the footwell. You need to pull it twice. Details in the owner's manual.
It's up under in the top of the footwell on the drivers side next to the steering column. The little loop is what to look for. It's emergency use only, but you have to pull it two times to release the hood open it and then shut it and that should get the system back into synch. When I say pull, I mean pull like hell.

It worked! And big thanks for the hint to pull like hell. Couldn’t get it to go with fingers alone, so I attached a little strap and pulled like hell. Frunk opened, and when I closed it the car recognized as closed. 27mph, here I come.
There was another Thread I saw the other day that addressed this issue.
I think it's a bad Actuator that the Dealer had to replace.

Just a thought. If a Skunk got stuck in the Frunk would it know to push the Emergency Release Button, or would it need the help of a Frunk Monkey to get out before it Stunk up the Frunk?
