I have been working on this a few hours at a time for a while now. Finally finished the project Well almost, I have to reattach the side panels. Came out ok for a DIYer.
Stock black OEM version that I painted before wrapping the side panels
Yes, I removed the panels and wrapped them. Then I applied a vinyl set of white letters into the recessed area. Removing the side pieces was a real pain but the only way I wanted to go if I was going to wrap them.
Project looks good. I have seen various members mention different paints to match the Edge red valve covers. What brand and color paint did you go with? Thanks.

One from Corvette mods. -cost more, looks good, one for each side
one from Jaycee Vinyl on ebay -less expensive, came with two sets per side. The letters are spread out on vinyl (not laid out for you) but I only wanted to apply one letter at a time anyways. I used these and am pleased with them.
Because the Duplicolor spray can is only 5 oz, I first bought a spray can of close color match at Home Depot to get a good red coverage over the dark plastic. Then sprayed the Duplicolor to get good color match, then a few coats of clear.
My technique was adhesion promoter, regular primer. Two cans of duplicolor to get about four coats of base, taped off the rest and sprayed emblem with black. Hand painted emblem then clear on top of everything
