Am I missing something here. I don't see paying $4650 extra from a 2LT to a 3LT just because of the interior seat choice color. Paying for the GT2 seat on a 2LT and you are still ahead $3155. Is there something else that would be worth spending the extra cash? I could use this for accessories.
There are the people that pay $4650 because they like the materials and color choices and there are people that pay $20k extra to get a C8 now rather than wait 6 to 12 months. Then, there are the people that are waiting a couple of more years so they don't have to pay MSRP or over. Whichever group you fall into...it's nice to have choices.
I really wanted the yellow interior stitching on black leather or the new Sky Cool Gray /Strike Yellow combo, but just could not justify paying the 3LT premium for it. Some people want "the best" no matter what and more power to them, but I'm more of a shopper that tries to strike what I find to be the better value (if that's even a thing for a brand new Corvette), which is exactly where the 2LT trim comes in. I was happy with my C7 Z51 1LT and I am sure I'll be more than satisfied with my C8 Z51 2LT. I sat in all the various trims of the C7 and in both a 2LT & 3LT C8; the extra/better leather or whatever it is just didn't trip my trigger.
It's not the color, it's the materials. 3LT are leather wrapped. That price difference is for the entire interior surface to be covered in leather instead of just the seats and a few key pieces of the dash/trim.

I mainly went to the 3LT because I loved the two tone blue interior but with that being said, there is more than just color. As you mentioned you go to the GT2 seat (not that big of deal to me), the leather is definitely better quality, without a doubt, but more than that, the leather is absolutely everywhere! It's on the dash, the console, the door panels, etc., and the suede headliner and posts. That still may not mean enough for you to pay the difference, but there is quite a bit of difference getting into a 2LT after being in a 3LT. I got into a friends gen 7 Z06 corvette the other day and couldn't believe the lack of leather in a nicer car. Just a choice.
Its not just the interior combinations and standard GT2 seat, the entire interior is Nappa leather and suede vs the Mulan leather in 2LT. There is a very noticeable difference in the quality of materials between a 2LT and a 3LT, 3LT gives you that luxury looking feel, 2LT has leather that feels like every other vehicle in the 40k and under market. If the quality matters, you pay the extra, if it doesn't don't. To me the interior combinations available at 3LT really make the car stand out and I'm willing to spend the extra for the nicer materials, after all I'm the one sitting in them.
I got 3lt because I wanted natural dipped interior with suede inserts and a suede steering wheel. Everyone has their own value with options, some swear by a Z51 package and others have to have 3LT interior. Some people have to get the entire car wrapped in PPF and ceramic, while others just wash and put carnauba wax on it. Some don't bother with any options and are perfectly content with the 1LT. You need to decide what your budget is and what's important to you.
First, there is nothing from GM that states the 3LT is wrapped in Napa leather. There is no more Napa leather in the 3LT than a 2LT with GT2/Comp seats; and that is only on the seating surfaces (and perhaps the headrests).
The 3LT leather wrapped interior is likely Mulan leather (which is likely a bonded leather). Having said that, the 3LT leather wrap is nicer than the 2LT which is likely vinyl (but still a good quality vinyl).
The main reasons I went with the 3LT:
I wanted the Natural Dipped interior.
I really like sueded microfiber wrapped upper surfaces. It gives the interior the feeling of older upper end European cars.
I wanted the leather wrapped interior.
I was going to get the GT2 seats anyway.
I spend most of my time looking from the inside of the car out and I wanted that time to be as enjoyable as possible.
The 3LT leather wrapped dash had bubble issues on the C6 & C7. Is that an issue with the C8? To early to tell. But, the 3LT does have some excellent color combinations. Still not worth the extra money in my opinion.

I went 3LT to get the color I wanted. I was already doing GT 2 seats so big deal. Every day I look at it knowing I got what I wanted vs close. Nothing wrong with the 2LT but getting what you want is beyond a few bucks.

Hopefully GM learned their lesson and the C8 will have fewer problems with the 3LT dash. The C8 dash is more "broken up" and doesn't have leather extending all the way to the defroster vents, where a lot of the problems occurred.
I really wanted red stitching along with Jet Black, wasn't sure I wanted to upgrade from the 2LT for it. I then sat in a 3LT and was impressed by the leather surfaces and alcantara. Hell I am even getting the transparent roof panel and still find the extra money worth it. And the GT2 seats are definitely nice!
If you think you will like the seats, extra leather and alcantara, go for it. I suggest finding a way to sit in one and see for yourself to make the decision. My dealer had one on the preowned lot, so he hooked me up with some seat time.
