A few weeks ago, after having PPF installed on my car, I noticed some fluid streaks under the PPF (I thought). At about that same time I think I read about someone else here with the same issue, but he pointed out that it was inside the lens. Well, I had to take the car to the dealer for a leaking front driver side shock leak, non-working horn and the fluid streaks. I was totally shocked when the service writer called me to inform me they were going to replace both headlights. They replaced the shock and have ordered something for the horn (airbag issue). They checked and found the condensate drain hose had not been fully installed, so they fixed that. They even checked the front end lift system for leaks - all was well. I tell this story because I was so dreading taking the car to the dealer, expecting all kinds of run-around or excuses, or whatever. I feel much better now, phwew
A bit off topic, but down here in Camelot, mechanics are few and far between.... when I took my '71 350 to both the most respected shops in town I was told something like... "we don't work on those kinda cars.... haf'ta take that down'a Pixley.." Sheesh... like what hayseed, boondock mechanic has never seen an SBC?
So shout-out to my local Bowtie dealer (i. g. Burton)..... they have a Corvette trained technician, and the service writer is a DE guy... he doesn't blink and eye when I take the car in for tech inspection....
I'm on the fence with a Porsche, but the nearest dealer is a three-day mule ride north.... 5 minute up Costal Highway with a C8 sounds better.... may be the decision-point....
It's easy to trash dealers, but some of them really do care about service....
You got lucky , I have water or some streaks on inside both my 21 convertible headlights . First dealer tried to tell me was on the outside and the PPF installer issue with their adhesive. Went to Penske group who installed they said on inside as I thought but polished headlights to show me anyway. Back to dealer and called GM , . GM said since dealer didn’t do PPF there it he headlight may have been damaged by heat gun used. In writing Penske auto group said they did not use heat gun on my install and they would be embarrassed to tell a customer that. Back at dealer and GM to see what excuse they come up with now . To me the dealer should fix it and deal with GM not put customer in the middle especially on their flagship car. No way buying Z06 now and would not recommend anyone buy the Vett with this type or PPF warranty games.
