M4 is definitely the faster car from a roll, and it’s very close from a dig (really depends how long the track is).
Would love to see some comparisons on a roadcourse track, which is where the M4 has historically shinned.
In any case, the “feel” of the car is the most important to me. Which is why I’m going with a C8 over a performance-model Tesla (which are just as a fast in a straight line)! The M4 is a fine car, and if the base price started at $60k like a corvette I would have a hard time choosing between the two!
Great time to be a car enthusiast where we have many great options to pick from.
Oh yea.. wrong comparison. Should be C8 to a another sports car, not a family sedan with a big motor. The 4 BMW should go up against the Dodge Challenge Red Eye... not the C8.
When the powerful models come out it will 2 late as usual. GM HAS failed once again
The C8 is quite a car, at a terrific price point. Hence it’s praise by consumers and those in the automotive industry. Look at the historical demand, i believe GM has hit it out of the park.

Corvettes and M3/M4s are crossshopped quite a bit - I enjoyed the comparison.
“M4 vs. Corvette: Who wins? The BMW M4 is more exciting thanks to its racier engine and oversteer-happy rear end. Its sedan roots make it slightly more functional on the road too. On the other hand, the Corvette delivers similar performance for significantly less money and offers more stability on the racetrack, making it a better experience. During normal driving, the C8 has a smoother ride, and its mid-engine layout feels more special from behind the wheel. This blend of performance, comfort and value is what makes the Corvette the best sports car.”
So C8 is cheaper, faster, and better on the track, while also being a better drive on regular roads. Time to cancel my deposits and buy the ugly M4
not impressed. I would not have been impressed even if the C8 won....straight-line acceleration is such a 50's/60's/70's thing. There is nothing exhilarating about it, and tells you 0 about the capabilities of a sports car (A Dodge Demon can rip the tread off tires at a drag strip, but does that make it a sports car? NO) put those cars on a road like the Dragon, or the Cherohala Skyway, set up the C8 with track camber settings, and the equivalent with the M4 (if necessary), with experienced drivers, THEN I will be impressed with whoever has the fastest time. A road course (or deserted back roads) is where a car really shows its metal, and tells you just how much engineering went into the handling of the car.
What is the purpose of this thread?
What do we have a Corvette hater looking for anything negative about the C8 so he can post it here on our forum.
I have a C8 coming and have never even looked at an M4. I could care less how it compares and I’m sure most here couldn’t care less.
BMWs are great cars, and fast. My last car was a 340i which, as configured, was around the same price as a base C8. I enjoyed driving my BMW - it was fun, but it never felt really special. It didn’t stir my soul. I never looked for reasons to run an errand just because I wanted to jump in the driver’s seat, even when it was brand new. My attachment to my C8 is on a whole different level. I have passion for my C8 that I never had with my BMW. If my wife mentions needing something from the store, I volunteer to go just to get behind the wheel. Sometimes, late at night, I go into the garage just to stare at it.

I’m sure it’s a nice car and it’s fast and like you I just don’t care.

The only reason the C8R is not undefeated in the IMSA Weathertech Series is because the BMW took out the C8R, which was leading the race at Sebring, in the final laps.
