Today, I had two pickup trucks wanting to race me. I have had my car since July, 21 and have never had this problem with pickup trucks. When I had my C7, I had a problems with Ricers and Mustangs, but never with pickup trucks. Today a NEW jacked up GMC pickup truck made a special effort to pass several cars to catch up and go by me as fast as he could. Before I could get home, a New jacked up Ford Raptor SVT almost stopped to wait for me to catch up with him and when I pass him, he took off in a cloud of smoke. Well, I'm not going to race anybody especially on busy public streets. I guess my question for forum members is have you had the same problem with pickup trucks.
It's a Jax FL thing. Lot's of rednecks here. It's not just pickups, it's a lot of mustangs. They pull up at lights and rev their engines. Ok.
This doesn't bother me, and I won't be street racing any of them either. What worries me more are the distracted drivers that start wandering out of their lane because they are looking at your car in their side mirror for too long.
One thing is undeniable, the C8 gets a lot of looks on the street.
I will admit to doing a dumb thing the other day. I pulled up at a light and there was a newer Mercedes S550. For some reason the guy driving it wanted to get on it. It was 3 lane highway and nobody was around and it was a nice day and I had the top down. We both floored it when the light turned green. Needless to say he did not stand a chance and I left him very quickly. Normally I never do those things on a public road but nobody else was around and it was a clear sunny day and it was nice to hear the engine come to life with the top down.

Not saying a C8 isn’t faster, but usually in these situations where two grown men with a lot more to lose are street racing each other, it comes down to which one chickens out first and let’s off the throttle as opposed all out putting performance to the test.
No issues yet with trucks, but I think everyone who drives a Mustang is an idiot.....They always want to race and they like stomping on the accelerator pedal so you hear the exhaust, which I think Mustang's sound awful! i just laugh and let them drive there piece of crap....

Simply saying "Mustang's" is almost as generic as saying "Fords" You can have an old beat to sh*t 4cyl fox body with a fart can, or a new GT500 or Supersnake, or an 8 second drag car, or anything in between.
With that said, modern mustangs are definitely not pieces of crap, and are very good for the money. And just FYI, a newer 10-Sp 5.0 GT with just a tune and E85 will slowly pull away from a C8 on the top-end. Seen several video's of this happening.
And since when do mustangs sound awful?? Granted, it again, all depends on which specific mustang PLUS their exhaust setup, but generally speaking they have long been one of the best sounding muscle/sports cars.
With that said, a C8 is obviously on another level as a sports car compared to your average Mustang GT. But no need for the mightier than thou, generalizations, and everything else is crap attitude.
There are absolutely no idiots in any Corvette. I am sure when my Plaid arrives I will be just waiting at Stoplights and in traffic looking to race a Corvette. I guess I could have my wife drive the Corvette but she gets mad when she looses.
Do I smell a whiff of Tesla Plaid smugness and feeling of superiority? Here in Southwest Florida, I encounter hordes of Teslas. When I drive south to Naples (75 miles south of my city) on weekends, Teslas seem to have become more common than Hondas, and the number of Teslas far exceeds the plethora of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bentleys taking weekend drives. Anyway, because I despise silent cars with a passion (electric cars seem as silent as riding around in a coffin) I just can't resist, when I'm beside one, hammering the gas, not to race one, but to share the wonderful, joyous tone of my very loud Borla ATAK exhaust. Juvenile? Perhaps, but the temptation is too much to resist. The dude in the Plaid will certainly be quicker than me, but great speed is nothing without great sound, just as a great guitar solo is nothing without a great accompanying overall song melody. I want to feel alive by enjoying the sound of a barely muffled supercharged V-8 sound while I can, not driving around in a deathly silent "coffin car".

Amen brother. I think GM V8s on the whole have never sounded as good as a Ford V8.
We’ve gone around the block on this topic, and I know a lot of chill Tesla owners. I know enough about Tesla’s to know NOT to tussle with a plaid.
I love tussling with Plaids. Sure, they are absolutely quicker than me, but I love showing them what a masculine car sounds like (very loud supercharged V-8 with Borla ATAK mufflers), as opposed to the wimpy, coffin-like near-silence of an electric car.

I’d agree that used to be the case. The new Vette’s sound amazing now though. I sold my Mustang to get a C8. I didn’t hate it but it’s hard to compete with the startup bark and the backfire pops during DCT shifts on C8’s.
History lesson aside, it’s not one of Jacksonville’s strong points.
Here the rednecks have their trucks squatted so it’s like taxiing a B-17. Retarded as hell.
I try to appreciate all manifestations of automotive enthusiasm. I get a laugh from some mods that I see, like putting what look like large metal coffee cans on the tailpipes of otherwise raggy beaters, but beginners have to start somewhere. I used to do one wheel burnouts in my 46 Studebaker pickup, with a flathead 6, til I blew two engines and also tore the driveshaft away from the pumpkin. I put fanfare (flared) tailpipes on my parents 67 beetle and learned to "speedshift" in that car. Really thought I had something. I put side scoops on my 65 VW bus. Blew that engine too, but put another in and kept on truckin'. I personally favor originality in old and newer cars, but heavily modded stuff has its place too. If you have the resources and the interest, do what you want with your vehicle. You only go through here once.
NOTHING will touch a plaid in acceleration. I wouldn't want to try and go around a corner with nearly 5,000 pounds though, even electricity doesn't change how much grip a tire can handle. I'll be happy to stay with my petrol and the sounds the engine makes.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
