Default Which C8 will hold best value?

My allocation should be here next week, and I plan on driving it 3-6 months due to personal reason.

Is there any configuration recommended, to reduce exposure for resale, since I’ll be selling within 6 months after driving it?

I can only afford the 1LT so that’s a must. Color choices (exterior and interior), options, etc?

If you are trying to be budget conscious you could look at it a couple ways. Just leave it basic and dress it up with a stripe or other cosmetic options. If you can get Z51 or Magnetic Ride Suspension those are typically things people will look for. Your buyer will likely be budget conscious as well so keep that in mind. There is a thread here that goes over the popular colors, (Torch Red, Red Mist, Elkhart Lake Blue etc...) Just keep in mind some paint colors cost extra.

The time to flip cars is coming to an end at a faster and faster pace. There are literally hundreds of them on the market now. A quick search of Cars.com shows 392 1LT cars, 617 2LT cars and 581 3LT cars for sale right now. The market is getting flooded and prices are coming down. There are 7 cars under 70K and all of them are listed for sale at MSRP. You will lose sales tax and license for sure.

I would think twice about trying to flip one at this point.

1LT Torch Red Coupe, black Interior…however if your selling in 6 months get 2LT and you’ll increase the number of people interested.

At this point in time, any used C8 in any configuration should sell for more than you paid for it, as long as it doesn't suffer any damage during your short period of use. Less well equipped cars will sell for less, but you paid less, so it all balances out. There is some evidence you might actually come out ahead with a higher resale percentage on a "stripped model" because a lower priced C8 will be very attractive to a larger pool in this market.

FYI pick a color that's popular and that shows the lines of the Corvette styling. And pick a interior color that helps the car POP! IMHO don't waste your money on wheels. If you have the car for only 6 months whoever will buy it, most likely for more than you paid for it, will be able to afford wheels. But that's just my experience with my C7 1LT. I ordered it White with red interior, NPP exhaust, Navigation, Red calipers and a Z51 Spoiler. Kept it for 7 fun years and sold it privately for about 7K more than I was top offered for a trade in on a C8. Just saying.

I agree with one of the above comments - keep it pretty simple.

Perhaps we need (another) POLL to reach a consensus ...

For what its worth I have a TR 1LT, black interior, mag ride, NPP, body color match, and carbon flash mirrors. A simple combo that looks sharp.

I’ve dug into this and stripped 1LT is the clear resell value winner every time.

The C8 already punches way above it’s belt in terms of value for the money, so I would agree, 1lt is a great car for resale for those who have a limited budget.
And I agree with sticking with the popular colors if you plan to resell .

I don't think color matters all that much in this market, unless it's one of the bottom two, and even then those are selling above MSRP.

1LT, no options in Accelerate Yellow. Yellow has a long history 💛 in recouping a higher percentage of dollars on sale day, than any other color. My source; empirical data chart provided by Zymurgy two weeks ago on another thread.

While it is true that Arctic White, Torch Red, and Black are usually colors nos. 1, 2, & 3 in new Corvette orders from the factory, the data where sales of used cars on the whole is out there for the color Yellow. 💛

Most of the new Corvettes on cars.com are not actually for sale but auto-populated listings of vehicles that are actually customer-ordered cars. As far as your comment about the market is getting flooded and prices are coming down, I have yet to hear a single example of that or any other credible evidence.

Best advice, don't take possession.

Yellow cars hold their value better than any other color. The average car depreciates 33.1% in the first three years of ownership. Yellow cars lose only 27% of their value over the same period, according to an analysis by iSeeCars.com.

The car search website analyzed more than 2.1 million used car sales as part of the study. Yellow cars depreciated the least, while gold cars lost the most value. They depreciated by 37.1%.

Interesting post, I’m in the same boat. Have a car to order soon and know it will be short term for me. Figured I’d use the stats that show the most popular configurations.

Back in normal times when dealers ordered for their stock I had a dealer tell me they only ordered stripped 1lt cars as they were the most popular.

i may rethink trying to add much beyond that.

I believe the Z06 is the car to get. Pretty sure it retains it's value very well.

Order a 2LT because it has all the creature comforts buyers look for. Stay away from Z51 or Mag ride because you will not get back what you paid.
