Having gone from a C6 Z06 to a C8 3LT HTC, I can say they are very different cars. I drove a C7 Z06 before making my decision, but I needed more passenger legroom for my tall wife, and that was a key issue.
Now the C6 ZO6 was raw, responsive and quick (but not like the C7 Z06 which was unreal. in a good way). The C8 is refined, good ride, handles differently from the C6 & 7, is quieter and surprising quick. According to the magazines, the C8 is as quick or quicker to 60 and 100 as the C6 Z06 and possibly the C7 Z06 too. The C8 acquires speed without the drama of the Z cars.
If you have a chance, drive the C8 and look at the pro's and con's between the two cars, particularly to those things are important to you. Then you'll feel better about whatever decision you make. Good luck.
I sold my 14 m7 z51 about 3 months ago and also drove a friend of mines c8. Ended up buying a 17 z06/z07 3lt with 12k miles. The c8 was great and if one was considering an auto c7 z06 or c8 I’d take the c8 any day. But for myself i love the control and feel of a manual in a car that i take out sparingly.
I am on the list From Mike Furman @ Criswell for a C8 probably in September.I have a Long Beach Red/Kalahari Convertible Z06 with Chrome Wheels 2016 with 4200 mi.I go back and forth about whether to pull the trigger or not I really love my Z06 but I drove my neighbors C8 and I really liked it.Keeping the Z06 is not an option I only have a 2 car garage and my wife won't keep her Mercedes outside. Is there anyone else going through this.
I would think long & hard before selling your Z06 for a C8 base car
You all may think I’m foolish but I have a 13’ base which I love. I put my name on the MM waiting list last November and am having 2nd thoughts about the C8. It’s all about owning a new Vette which I never had the ‘new’ experience. My 13’ which I have enjoyed for the last 5 years, has been a trouble free Joy. I am at a stage of my life where I will never get another chance of owning a new Vette. Would you pull the trigger on a C8 if you were me?

Keep the 4200 mile c7 z06 and drive it more or buy the c8 and drive that one more.
if I had a 4200 mile supercar lime the z06 I wouldnt be selling it for a new stingray. Maybe a c8 z06 but not a stingray. Even though the stingray is quick i think its missing the visceral feeling of the s/c Z06 you currently own. You dont seem to drive too many miles so in my opinion the crazy hp very visceral supercharged 650 hp Z06 would in my opinion more in return to you.
i love my 2020 C8 z51 as my daily driver ....fabulous sports car ...yet for your usage..l think the A ticket ride as a 650hp rocket always on the edge of adhesion with the press of the loud pedal is better for your usuage.
order up a C8 z06
monetarily..from a financial standpoint, yes sell your c7 z06 now....take the c8 z51 for a few years...then pick up a c8 z06 when you want more.

I loved my Z7 Grand Sport BUT once I got my C8 never looked back. This is my 6th Vette and by far the best!
Yep have a 3 car garage BUT street rod in one, C8 another and wife's SUV the 3rd!

I purchased my first "new" Corvette (1975 silver/red leather) when I was 17. Had a horrible experience as it was an ordered car and the dealer's owner sold my Corvette out from under me to a friend of his. So ordered another from a different dealer.
Purchased dozens of pre-owned Corvettes over the next 40 years (C2-C3 steel bumper cars), however never another 'new' one until purchasing my 2017 C7 GS Vert in 2017. It was one of the most enjoyable Corvette purchases I've ever had. The purchase went perfect, I thoroughly enjoyed the car and was so glad I had finally sprung for a 'new' Corvette. Now just received an allocation for a C8 Stingray and have a decent spot on a Z06 waiting list. So my advice to you is to GO FOR IT. I'm so looking forward to my C8s.

Theres really only one option. Divorce. Problem solved.

It's not that complicated. Why would you want to wait on a list for at least six more months to get a car you're not sure you want that comes with wheels you hate, to replace a car you know you love even though you've barely driven, and it already has chrome wheels? Be different. Keep the C7 and let someone else get a car they know they will enjoy.
C7Z's are awesome, but they don't come close to the C8. the cars are so different it's shocking. C8 is the way to go, but you're going to be waiting for awhile if you order one, or paying a premium if you buy a used one.

I would figure out a way to keep your C7 Z06. I was blessed financially to be able to keep my ‘17 M6 Camaro ZL1 when I bought my C8. Like you, I only have a two car garage and four vehicles. Keeping the wife’s SUV in the garage was number one priority. Happy wife, happy life as the saying goes. I was fortunate to find a 10 x 20 public storage unit six minutes from my house for the Camaro. When I want to drive it, I hop in my pickup truck go over to the storage unit and take the Camaro out. The wife’s SUV and Corvette reside in the garage, the pickup is parked in the driveway, and the Camaro is in the storage unit. This arrangement works pretty well and gives me the opportunity to drive my 650 HP, supercharged car anytime I want.

I hear ya!!! Its a different car for sure. To me the C8 is more refined and you cant beat a manual.
I miss my c7 Z terribly........... but on the list for a M6 blackwing.
OP I can't related to your issue...... you got a 7 yo car with 4200 miles on it?
Don't you think you're still going to miss your C7Z as the Backwing isn't a sportscar.
I’d trade my Camaro ZL1 in a heart beat for a M6 Blackwing. Would I do the same with my C8? If I had a coupe, yes. Having the convertible makes it a little tougher decision.
For me, the CT5 Blackwing with a manual transmission, 668 HP and a true back seat would be a hard car to turn down. The whole sports car thing with the Corvette is a little over blown in my opinion.
Pull the trigger. Do not change your original plan. I had a base C8 on order with Mike and cancelled the base after 10 months. Did not take long for wrong move to set in. Why second thoughts on it? Covid at the time, courtesy delivery, and #1 was I pre-ordered a set of mod wheels and had them sitting in our third bathroom bathtub. Why there? Never really use that bathroom and wanted to put it to good use. Have a detached garage and wanted to reduce any risk of someone wanting to borrow them. End result, wife not happy and voiced her OP on those HUGE wheels. With such slack what would Nancy think of my new car I wondered. That's why the cancel. Big regret a week later. Should have stood my ground as the law allows in Floriduh.

Yes I will. If I had the garage space, damn retirement community….. I’d hunt down a c7z too.
But you do realize blackwing is a 4 door corvette? I’m not in love with 4 doors but for a year or 2 until the market clears if I can get a blackwing I’ll try it. Last I knew there have been only around 1000 built. Rare cars.
