Default Ceramic and PPF Long Island

Anyone on Long Island have a good recommendation for ceramic and ppf? I've reached out to a few places, but figured I'd check here before I make up my mind. Thanks

Detail Dynamics has an excellent reputation. Used them twice totally filming my cars.

Suggest visiting any shop to meet owner b4 locking a place in.

I am not from your area, but I learned something this weekend that is worth sharing. Dropped my car off at an Xpel shop that I use and the owner showed me a new product from Xpel. It is a ceramic impregnated film. It is about 15% more expensive than regular PPF, but well worth it in my opinion. The product has only been out since February, so how long the ceramic will last is yet to be seen.

I wound up going with Xclusive Autoworks in Massapequa. Front PPF package and ceramic on the full car. They use Stek PPF (not Xpel). I am very happy with their work. I've put almost 5,000 miles since the install and the car still looks like it came off the showroom floor.

FYI - I also looked at 631 Coatings in Farmingdale, among others. 631 has an amazing operation and they obviously do top notch work. What turned me off was the price. They quoted front PPF + Ceramic at around 40-50% more than I ended up paying. I didn't see the value. YMMV.

Interesting that you say that. I had previous work done by them and it was all done very well however their prices were why I was looking elsewhere their ceramic coating was actually significantly higher than 631 Coatings was ($1000more for the top package)and the ppf a little higher. They do however do great work.

That is interesting. I got quotes from both in May of this year. I just looked for the quote sheet 631 gave me. They wanted just under $6,000 for front bra PPF + ceramic package. I didn't get the top ceramic package (3 coats) at Xclusive - their price was just over $4,000 for the PPF+Ceramic (2 coats + wheels off added). For comparable work, 631 was $1,900 (48%) higher. The ceramic portion of the quotes were about the same price - the difference was all in the PPF.

So yes, if you get Xclusive's top package, the ceramic would be higher than 631's (another $750?). However, I have no idea if that is an apples to apples comparison. 631 seemed to have just one ceramic price.

Like someone else wrote, do visit any place under consideration and speak with the owner. I went to about half a dozen places and didn't have a good feeling about anyone but 631 and Xclusive.

Not sure either on the specifics but both included paint correction, wheels off rims and calipers, glass, etc. The 1 difference as I look at the quotes is 3 coats of cquartz vs 2 coats of expel fusion at 631. But the prices were $2495 vs $1500. Not sure if the extra coat warrants the price. I inky wanted ppf on front bumper, headlights, rockers and bottom of the doors. Xclusive was only a few hundred higher and theybuse suntek instead of expel. Either place I would think do great work but the extra money is definitely a factor.

I have been using Detailing Dynamics for years. They are an authorized EXPEL installer. They are in my opinion, the best detail shop on the East Coast. I had a 2019 Grand Sport and my current 2022 Z51 HTC ppf and ceramic coated there and both jobs were excellent. Ask for Matt, one of the owners.

thank you they look legit and I suppose you get what you pay for but their estimates were heads and tails way above everybody else not in my budget

They did my previous 3 Corvette's, last one was a 2015, there were too many stretch marks on my hood area from overstretching the film, this time I used 631 Coatings which did an excellent job !
DD has gotten overpriced lately, maybe too much catering to the Lambo/Ferrari cu$tomer.
