First off, thanks to @johndur for selling me his engine cover. I now have a torch red engine cover. Total cost with all the paint and cover, $100 or so.
This is what I used for paint. Which I saw another member use.
First, hit it with a few coats of primer. I think I waited 15 mins or so between coats. I blue taped the metal areas pbut I seriously recommend taking it off and reinstalling it after. It’s way more clean and the blue tape won’t rip off the paint which I had some areas happen. *edit, maybe take an exacto knife and cut around edges of the tape and paint so it won’t rip when taking off the tape* I touched it up now and looks good. Second start spraying that sweet red torch color. Spray it light each time and build it up. 15 mins before each coat. Then hit it was the gloss clear. Here are pics of the process and after installed. It also added 5hp and gave me internet clout.
Well, here’s my attempt. Not bad for $40 in paint and a couple hours of time. Now, do I buy one of those fancy clear engine cover so folks can see it or hang it on the wall…. MS300 (Metal specks retro red). I think someone else used this, pretty darn close to edge red if you ask me.

is the Corvette logo a decal or was it painted by you?
Looks really nice
I like the way you left the CORVETTE logo plates the original color. I have seen many where people paint them black, and then fill in red letters. That never looks good.
It looks much better with the metal color.
