Good to know, guess I'll just continue to rev my engine in neutral before I approach the tree bends.

Thanksgiving eve in rural SC. 4.5 months, 3 repair shops, and $25,500 total fix. USAA would not total it, but they did guarantee my satisfaction.

Wow, When an animal decides to run into the side of your car, you don't have too many choices other than take the hit. I'm really glad you could drive on. It would really be a bummer to have the car towed and have to find other transportation.

Glad you weren't hurt, but when a deer hits you they always win, and you get the damage.

At least we agree on one thing. It is never the drivers fault.

Sorry for the car. You're lucky coolant didn't leak!

Deer are not as smart as squirrels! At least they try to get out of the way. We'll mostly!

If you can walk away from a deer-vs-car accident, consider yourself blessed. My wife worked in an ER near a highway and they had many truly bad cases where deer came through the windshield, people paralyzed for life, etc.

^^^
That is the concern with the C8 (and any low car.) They are stupid and will continue to run across the road. Often in our area they come from woods cross the road and eat plants in our homes on a Lake. If there are 4, when the first starts the others follow at speed. Can come up over the hood and with feet kicking smash the windshield and you.

The other morning at 7:45 there were two packs going from homes to the woods. I was going slow and they just ran across the road in front.

Happens so often around here in our rural area we have many Turkey Vultures just waiting for a meal. They made quick work of a deer!

The other day there were so many that came flying out of trees from the woods thought I was in a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."

They are a major nuisance right now in our area - I hit and killed one the other day. Luckily I was in the truck and it kind of ran right info the front of the wheel well and got spit out the other end.... Somehow didn't do any damage.

It would be interesting to see a follow up on how this area was ultimately repaired? Best of luck.

I was driving a Dodge Caravan and an oncoming car hit a deer and knocked it into the front of my car. I stopped to see if there was any damage to my car, could not get the door open. It really messed up the fender and hood.
Almost as bad as when I hit a bear in Yellowstone. I'm a natural born killer behind the wheel.

I never hit a deer while driving a car or pickup truck, though I’ve come close several times. However, I did hit one while riding my motorcycle. About 75% of deer/motorcycle accidents results in injury or death. I was one of the lucky 25% as a combination of a last second maneuver by the deer and myself scrubbing off as much speed as possible without locking up the brakes resulted in the shin of my armored boot making contact with the deer’s nose. One of the many reasons I went from riding a motorcycle to driving a Corvette.

My brother -in-law sells insurance in WI, and according to him, the deer whistles don’t work.
