I'm looking someone who can recommend someone who can install a set of stingray R decals to the hood of my corvette. I need someone who has done this before on a corvette. thanks
Pretty much any vinyl or PPF shop would be able to do it. Contact your local car club and they would probably be able to point you to somewhere reputable.
I did this on the first set of decals. Its all bubbled. The first guy said the material that gm uses is horrible and couldn't release the air bubbles. looks horrible. I bought a new set of decals.
Wow, sorry to hear that. I have installed good quality vinyl stripes and the oem hash marks. I did notice that I had to work the bubbles much more on the hash marks.
Have you tried just going to the dealer? They would be the ones to install them if they came with the car.

My Courtesy Delivery dealer had mine installed by a local wrap shop. After a few days there were two tiny bubbles which were taken care of with a needle and gentle rub.
Hi Rooster, I was thinking about doing it myself also. I have done them before on my 2001 corvette thats on my avatar picture and my mini cooper. The guy who screwed up mine said it was terrible material to work with. I didn't take them out of the flat cardboard to look. I will give him a chance to make up a new set if he actually does. There's more to the story of that tint guy. I did find another set just in case without the side decals.
Just installed mine tonight. Came out perfectly. Floated the decals on with water. Il post a pic tomorrow
Same. Not that hard to install, no harder than any other large-scale decal. I even added my own flourish without issue. Trickiest part is the nose. Done poorly the gap between hood and bumper shows body color and it looks awful.
Patience.

If you had the oem decal he’s full of it… it’s as good as it gets. It’s not wrap material so no air release which is why you need to float it.
I don’t think he’s going to be able to make up a new set.. talked to a couple sign shops in my area before ordering the oem and the weren’t able to make an accurate copy.
Big thing is to not rush it. clean the surface with something to completely remove any wax, including inside the seams where the decal will wrap around edges. I used dish soap.
place the decal and measure every way possible. once its perfect tape it in place. I put a strip of tape at the halfway point, flipped the top half back, peel the backing and cut off close to the tape line. with a spray bottle wet the area (straight water, no soap) flip the deal into place. it should be exactly where you placed it. if it is; work out the water with a decal squeegee starting from the tape line. be careful to work out any and all bubbles. then remove the tape and do the same process with the front half, again ensuring that its properly placed. the small triangle extension can be done dry if you're careful. in that case I started in the middle and worked it from the centre out. the edge where it wraps around the front of the hood won't stick as water pools there, it will stick when the water evaporates. resist the urge to use a heat gun as you can ruin the decal. patience is key.
Sounds more complicated than it is but if you do it this way it will turn out great.
