Default 2021 vs. 2023

Feature wise I can't see anything majorly different between the 2021 and 2023, from looking at some downloaded sales brochures. I know in the C7, for example, there were differences such as Android Auto that were added to it along the way. Does this seem to be correct? I can get a 2021 at a better price but of course its warranty will soon be out and I'd need an extended warranty to make up for it.

I like the Stealth Interior Trim Package that they added in 2023, as well as the new wheel options, but I wouldn't consider either of those significant enough to rule out a decent 2020-2022.

New options such as stealth interior, black exhaust tips, wheels, color choices, and transmission filter life monitor are just a few I can think of in addition to countless part upgrades and revisions that happen over the years as a part of continuing improvement programs....

Thanks guys... All good points to consider. I think for me the 'wireless' carplay would be nice, if one uses carplay. I'm sick of 'cords'...

some differences are:
only mechanical change is different fuel injectors after 22 so you get 1 more MPG
23 has new options such as black interior bits, black exhaust, wheels
23 has new interior and exterior colors (like the anniversary package)

wireless carplay is on the 21 and 23

There were a few "significant" defferences between 2020 and 2021 - Wireless Android Auto/Carplay, slightly different DIC and infotainment layouts, ability to tie PTM to Z Mode. At some point the fuel injection pressure was increased for smoother idle and better emissions. But I don't remember any significant differences between 2021 and 2023 other than a DCT filter life monitor for 2023 and available options.

Was there not a change to the transmission case and pan as well?

Yes. I think the change was made aprt way into the 2021 model but it isn't really an issue if your pan isn't leaking.

There may have been a case change of some sort for the different pan. But the main case change that I thought was made sometime in late 2020 MY perhaps 2021 was the case seeping fluid mainly in one area due to porosity.

Cast aluminum is susceptible to having porosity. Some more that others. There was a thin area in 2020 cases. I and most did not have issues. Tremec made a change to the aera(s) most susceptible. Don't hear of that now, or at least a significant number. There was a "clean and epoxy coat" solution used for some.

Wireless carplay was added mid way through 2021.

There might also have been an issue with the AC condenser drain line that was corrected. Haven't heard of many people having this issue lately. If you had the issue, you could SOAK your audio AMP since it sites very low down on the floor/firewall area on the passenger side.

Sure hope the E-Ray uses my idea and doesn't dumb AC Evaporator condensate into the battery compartment!

The pan and casting changes may have been related. But I do remember people with the latter transmission still reporting casting and pan leakage problems.

Yeah, I have been wondering about that too... seems like a bad place for a lot of moisture.

The ‘21 will have a keyed trunk lock; ‘23 will not.

Wireless carplay (and Android Auto) was added in 2021. All years have transmission oil life monitor. The 2023 added transmission FILTER life monitor.

First quarter 2021 builds E60 - Front Lift optioned cars. GM changed the FL reservoir fluid cap to a Blue colored cap.

Nope….my 21 was built on 29 Jan 21 and needed the reservoir cap replacement.
