I have had my car two weeks now and it has over 3000 miles, so ready to go wide open. Before I put the pedal down, I would like to make sure that I understand what is going to happen.
Is this correct:
In any mode, NOT in MANUAL shift, if I floor it, it will shift at 6500pm. Does it shift at 6500 in every mode, or is the redline different in each mode.
In track mode, not in manual shift. it will shift at 6500?
In MANUAL, it is possible to overrev the engine? It will not shift until I pull the paddle?
If I am not in MANUAL and I pull the paddle at 6000 it will shift gears, but then it will go back to shifting at 6500 at the next gear? If I use the paddle one time, it will not go into manual mode?
I want to put my foot down and let it rip, and not find out later that I was in some situation that cancelled the auto shift point.
Most of what you said is true. When NOT in manual shift with wide open throttle the car will rev to redline and shift regardless of mode. When using manual shift mode the car will rev to redline then the rev limiter will shut it down. Using the paddle when shifting once will temporarily put it in manual mode, in which case I think the rev limiter will apply until the car reverts to automatic shift mode again . The car will not let you hurt it by over-revving.
The redline is lower when the engine is cold. As others have said it does not depend on the mode, though.
That is true - on the display the redline is lower. But the software does not appear to prevent the operator from exceeding that. From what I can tell, the rev limiter limit does not change, or at least revs are not limited to the redline shown on the tach when cold. I have inadvertently exceeded that when accelerating with the transmission in automatic mode. The manual does say that "Upshifts may be delayed regardless of mode selection or ambient temperature until the engine is warmed up." The rev limiter also does not prevent exceeding 4500 rpms during the break in period - at least not on my 2021 - even though it shows the redline at 4500

Only the DISPLAYED redline is lower. I don't believe that affects the rev limiter, however. Mash the pedal to the floor and it will still go to 6600 rpm before shifting. The driver still has some responsibility to not be an idiot.
On a related point, the car will not let you downshift to a gear that would overrev the engine, even in manual mode.

A clarification. When using manual mode by selecting the M butting the car will hold the gear and the rev limiter will kick in at 6600 RPM.
When in temporary manual mode by using the paddles the DCT will shift into the next gear at redline.
OK, it appears to be safe in any mode. Put the pedal down and let it rip. It will shift at 6500 or 6600. No worries.
The only way I could go wrong is to put it into manual. Good to know.
