Alright. I know that this does not address what the OP is looking for. I know that people love to hate and bash so feel free, I don't care.
I mounted mine on the middle speaker between the seats. Gets plenty of radar triggering from front and back.
I can actually hear it when the top is off and the tunes are on. I know it is a budget radar detector. Etc.
I thought of doing something like that with my V1 and a remote display in front (I use JBV1 but I'd still want a hardwired remote). But I have a HTC so it would need to mount to the waterfall and be higher to see through the rear window.
