First C8 oil change
To me, it’s more than draining the oil/fluids. Includes look under the car while up on the rack, scan for codes, update software, test electronics, leaks, get entry on carfax for service, and better protect the existing warranty.
Yea, i know if done myself, keep receipts, etc, GM should honor warranty. I just don’t want any daylight if something serious goes wrong, mechanically while under warranty.
To me, creates a relationship with the service dept when may need them in the future.

1. Scan for codes: I use a code reader if a DTC lights up. Then if necessary, I will bring it to a dealer,
2. Updates: I use OTA updates, unless update is a large file, then a dealer has to do it.
3. No need to test electronics with no DTC and as stated, the dealer needs a reason to do so. I do have volt meter, battery tester and Code reader with live data. All simple and inexpensive auto tools.
4. Leaks, dealers do not remove the lower panels to change engine oil, so they will see what you see.
All I'm saying is that if only an oil change is needed and no codes or visible leaks, it's an easy DYI at home.
BTW: Don't forget to apply a little oil on the "O" rings of the oil pan bolt before reinstalling.
