I currently have the chrome exhaust tips tried to change to the black but was to late in the order process. Can anyone tell me the approximate cost to change tips, and does that require that the rear bumper me removed?
I speculate the only way to get the factory black exhaust tips are to buy the entire muffler because I doubt the black tips are bolt-on. Doubt Chevy would sell them as separate weld-on pieces. Or hope to find it secondhand from someone or a junkyard willing to chop them off (unlikely as they'll want to sell the entire muffler).
If you decide to paint, do keep in mind that the OEM black tips are larger and a slightly different shape than the silver. The 'valves open' pipe (outer) is also larger where it exits the muffler.
Thanks for the reply's, I'm guessing there was a photo of the plasta dipped exhaust, no photo came up when I followed the link. A video I saw showed the tips cut off and new ones welded on, but the rear bumper was removed which added to the cost. I have searched but can't seem to find any photos of painted exhaust. If anyone has a photo could you post it. Thanks for your time.

Personally, I wouldn't go to the trouble of fussing around with those janky OEM square tips. If you're going to invest the calorie burn, just get some proper tips and have someone weld them on. Not really a big job. The square silver exhaust tips might be the single most objectionable styling problem with the C8. And that's saying something because the C8 is chock full of styling issues.
Watch for a set of OEM black tip exhaust system to be listed in the 'For Sale' section.
Many have there exhaust system changed and sell the OEM systems real cheap.

^ that might be the best option if you can find a set for sale relatively close to you to keep shipping costs down. Otherwise, talk to a body shop about the possibility of painting them.
Just paint the dang things, for many years all kinds of exhaust tips have been painted with BBQ black as well as Plasti-dip and Hyper-dip. What do you have to lose? Any other solution will get expensive fast.
The first time I saw the early 'mules' I thought the 4 pipes looked dinky... much too small for a high performance car. (Anyone remember the little quad 4 pipes on the C5's???) Anyway, after 3 years of ownership of our C8 HTC my opinion hasn't changed. Painting 'em would be like pouring perfume on a pig. Maybe I'll get a Z06 because those pipes look respectable.....

sounds about right getting a zo6 which cost so much more not because of the performance or overall look but because the exhaust looks respectable wow
