A strike won't overlap with any current MY23 builds in progress. UAW contract expires 14 SEP. Makes no sense for them to deny themselves the full benefit and pay of a contract they already agreed on through 14 SEP. Their most beneficial date to start a strike would be after 14 SEP. Exactly that happened in 2019 delaying MY20 production. Rumblings of a strike started as early as May (nowhere near this late as July) and only after their contract expired on 14 SEP 2019 did they go on strike which lasted 40 days from 15 SEP to 25 OCT. If the same were to play out this time around, then by 15 SEP all current builds will already be with their owners, all subsequent MY23 builds will have finished, and MY24 production will be a couple weeks in.
Well my Z06 order/allocation goes in this week, but if strike happens or not I have to wait either way...leave the order in and don't defer or pull out right? Car will just be left on assembly line half assembled, shouldn't be a big deal?
Worst is probably I already paid in full and can't get the car due to strike!!!
My Dad was a union guy for 35 years. He ended up on strike 3 times. And he told me not once did he break even on what was gained covering what was lost. Cooler heads hopefully, but it is a weird labor market for sure. September 14th is still 3 weeks for sanity to prevail. Sadly my bet is going going gone.
