Default Soler Controller install tips

Installed the Soler Controller today in my C8, and below are some sequential pictures of the whole install.

The only issue that might cause some folks a hiccup is disconnecting the factory harness from the back top portion of the accelerator assembly, so I'm starting with that, then showing the rest of the install. I know there are several videos and threads already in existence, but in those I've seen, there's been several mentioning a fighting when releasing the OEM plug from the accelerator, and particularly pushing down on a red raised tip. As it turns out, the red raised tip shouldn't be touched at all, as there's a release tab to push instead. Below is a pic with some more comment.

In the picture generally, I've labeled three things. Also, for now, I'm not showing the install, but instead I've purposely connected the Soler male into the Soler female, for demonstration. In actuality, the female connects to the top of the accelerator assembly.

In the picture in more detail, when it comes time to remove the illustrated female (the right approximate half) from the male part of the accelerator pedal, you do two things: (1) first, push the red Locking Tab away from the assembly, and it will slide easily into the position shown above; and (2) second, push down on what I've labeled as the Release Tab. You in NO WAY NEED TO MONKEY WITH THE "Raised Tip." The Release Tab is a pivoting member and by pushing down on it (where I show the screwdriver tip located, but it's easily done with a finger tip), it levers the far end, which you can't see in the picture because it's inside the female body cavity, where it engages with a tip on the inside male. Anyhow, when you push the Release Tab down, the far and not visible end levers upward, at which point the female can be easily pulled apart from the male. This is how to release the OEM connector from the accelerator assembly, and the rest of the install steps are shown below. The only needed tool is for removing a 10mm hex bolt

Remove rubber plug (easily grabbed with fingernail -- no need for a tool)

Remove 10 mm bolt (it's about 1.5 inches long)

Pull accelerator pedal assembly in directions shown

Image of underside of assembly tabs, and slots in car for receiving tabs, just for orientation

Follow steps in picture

Insert Soler male into OEM harness female and push in red locking tab

Insert Soler female onto assembly male and push in red locking tab

Reassemble. There is a lot of play in the carpet and a factory cut in it, so I just tucked the hardware behind there and ran the wire up over the top. While not shown, I then hooked the display and finished the setup, and then tucked the display also behind the carpet as I did not choose to have it visible in my interior

DISCLAIMER: Your mileage may vary, no liability, no advice, blah, blah, blah.

Cheers.

I had myself all worked up over this being difficult….

When I got mine, I literally installed the app, opened the doors with the ignition off for the 10 whatever minutes and seven minutes later, I was completely finished.

I literally just opened the door, got on my knees, put a flashlight down there, and was done like boom! It is one bolt and one harness…..simple!
