Anything is better than option 1. If I was gonna wrap the roof I would take one step further and wrap the side of the trunk behind the window to make it look more like the HTC. There are a couple coupes on this forum that have done it and it looks clean. Option 2 looks good as well.
I plan to wrap the rear hatch top section and camera black on my HSG except for the upper left/right corners. The "Don't Touch My Car" guy on Insta/Youtube did his car this way which I think has a more robo-mech look with the cutoff lines following along existing chiseled lines in what's visually the C-pillar but technically the B-pillar. Like a mechanized claw that latches onto and secures the black roof.
That cutoff aligns with the partitions in Xpel's existing template. I plan to black out the shaded pieces (removable targa piece won't get wrapped black because I optioned the transparent top).
Should flow well with Carbon Flash painted mirrors/spoiler.
The first video game to feature the officially licensed C8 and C8.R was Project Cars 3. In it, one of the default liveries almost has the same blacked out roof delineation but it blacks out the upper left/right corners of the hatch. I prefer to leave those body colored like in the pictures above.

Option 2. Wrap cam and top of trunk. (Pics found online)
Personal preference. I like the look of all the blacked out tops. What I'd be more worried about is it turning out like this picture. That texture and gloss looks pretty bad. It's very obvious it's not paint.
Anyone know which brands provide a nicer finish?
Also whats the end game with these? Peel it off after 3-5 years and redo? From what I've read wraps don't last particularly long - especially if you park outside a lot.
Those cars in the last few pics are exactly what I was talking about. This YouTuber has a video comparing the finish & color of the top black vinyls available. Might want to check it out he really knows his stuff. I will say if you like Carbon Flash 3m 2080 G212 is an excellent match.
I like that option as well but you really need to have some quality vinyl to pull that off. I have seen too many with lots of orange peel and bad shine, that has turned me off to that option, since that side section is large and very noticeable.

This is why I asked for recommendations. I love the look of the blacked our roof, but I've seen examples where the finish looks pretty awful and I wouldn't be satisfied. Would be neat if folks could post a close up of their finish depicting the degree of orange peel and name drop the product used.

Just get the 3M 1080 and you'll be fine. It has good gloss and is basically a perfect match to GMs carbon flash.
