I bought Adams polishes (detail spray and graphene detail spray), thats all i have used so far and I love the stuff.
McGuires interior detail cleaner and Sprayway spray for the glass. So far I have only used a car wash hand pressure washer twice.
Easy, don’t drive it so no need to clean or wash. I’m new to this corvette thing but I do own a lot of motorcycles that get used none. They always look new! Bought a 2023 GMC AT4X 1/2 ton truck in January of this year. I’ve used it a couple of times on 3 trips it still looks brand new. Been in the rain twice. I’d use it more but I have no where to go I work at home since 2020. Whole other subject but if you got internet why did you go back to an office environment to talk football scores and child bs. Me neither exist and I’m productive,
I’m not a fan of washing anything. My motto is just do not get it dirty problem solved. I will wash a vehicle though by hand. After close to 500 miles my car is due its first wash. It has not rained here since July 1st, serious drought here in a state that typically gets 60” a rear in rain. Guess what it’s raining my second weekend of ownership of my first vette. I’ll just wait it out.
You are going to get a million different type of wax and cleaner recommendations.
I use Meguiars Ultimate Detailer almost every day, and Meguiars Rich Leather. Meguiars Polish, Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax.
I did buy Tuttle Wax Ceramic wax that was rated high on YouTube test.
What is the best way to clean a new c8
what type of detailer waxes tires everything.
thanks in advance Mike
Best way? Can't say. My Way ( and not everyone will agree, for various reasons):
I use mostly Griot's products (I have no Ceramic coating - and know nothing about it except for what I have read on the forum):
When new, I dusted it with a California Duster (thats the part some wont agree with), then I used microfiber cloth and some Griots Best of Show detailer. Spray on Car Wash could also be used for this step. Next I used a Griots surface prep pad - this is like an artificial clay bar. It should (must) be lubricated - I use it with Griots Speed Shine. It leaves the paint very very very smooth even though it is completely non-abrasive. I have never used any "polish" for "paint correction". I then finished with Griots Best of Show liquid wax. I might repeat this every so often but not very often. Use of the surface prep pad or clay bar will (I believe) remove wax.
Subsequently:
If really dirty, it gets washed first with water and Griots or other quality liquid car wash. It is very, very rare that I do this. I have foam cannon which is fun, but not necessary. Agitate soil with microfiber cloth. Rinse. Dry with microfiber towel. Apply Griots Best of Show Spray Wax.
Normally: Dust with California Duster. Then use Griots Best of Show Detailer with microfiber cloth. Sometimes finish again with Griots Best of Show Spray Wax.
If you're really serious about cleaning your C8, get yourself an electric pressure washer that can flow 1.5 gallons per minute (GPM) or higher at 1000 PSI or more. Next, get a good foam cannon to use with the pressure washer and a couple of five-gallon buckets with grit guards. A leaf blower or a dedicated car dryer such as a Master Blaster or BigBoi will dry the car while keeping direct contact with the finish to a minimum. If you really want to splurge, get a water-deionizer such as a Simple Chuck or CR Spotless to reduce water spots.
This youtube video does a pretty good job breaking it down and includes product recommendations. I generally find his videos informative, if not a little long and tedious.
Greenworks pressure washer that meets foam cannon requirements (forget the model number)
Camco water filter (used on water supply to pressure washer)
Goods luck! I would highly recommend watching the Chemical Guys video series on how to detail your car (8 videos I think). Even if you don't use their products, it's a great education.
Many YouTube videos on the subject. Corvette detailing is as complicated or as simple as you want. The new ceramic products are very good and with the added durability you can't miss. Watch the videos and decide what is best for you.
