I knocked the 2nd one out in a matter of minutes. The OEM mirror trim piece is part number 84348115.
I used a pair of vice grips to mark the pilot holes with what was supposed to be the top part of the mount:
Then once I had the pilot holes drilled, these are the screws and acorn nuts I used to complete the installation. I picked them up at Lowe’s for less than $3.

great job, what works for me is the single big suction cup for a R7. This way I can keep it high and it does not move.
i’m in Arizona and the one in my SRT jeep has been there for three years and has not fallen

I had the single big suction cup for my Escort. First cold day, about a month ago, it fell off. Fortunately, I expected it and put a towel on top of the screen to make sure it wasn’t damaged when the suction cup inevitably let lose as I suspected it would…
The BlendMount was definitely pricey, but I found it far superior to the $30 one I had previously purchased. The BlendMount keeps my detector exactly where I want it and that makes me happy.
Agreed. I bought this one for my C7 at first. It constantly vibrated and I found that alone to be very distracting. Did I save $150? No, I wasted $40 and still bought the Blendmount. For those who think the mirror mount is distracting, it seems way worse to mount on windshield, dash, or visor. The worst I have seen is those mounting with crappy brackets and velcro on top of the Infotainment screen. I figured I spent good money on a C8, so spring a couple hundy on a well built, trouble free, quality bracket!

…my mount mounts to the same trim piece as an actual BlendMount…BlendMount mounts on top of the mirror trim piece, my solution just mounts on the bottom of it…

I know....I owned it. Just chattered all the time, which drove me nuts. If that doesnt bother you cool. I tried both and the Blend is still the premier product, albeit pricey. I tell anyone, what works for you and you're happy with is what matters! That is what the car hobby is about.
Not saying anyone did anything wrong, but I have a knock off in my C7 and my Camaro today which has been in place since 2015 and 2017 respectively and outside of the yearly tighten of the mount they been flawless. To each his own I guess. I am headed to hardware store shortly and going to mess with this.
I am sure its obvious but are there any pictures of where power was tapped?

Are we taking about the same mount? I’m just referring to the mount I’ve come up with. To prevent any ratting or chattering, I took the two pieces of fitted rubber that was originally supposed to wrap around the rearview mirror and mounted these 2 pieces between the trim piece and the metal mount. My mount is completely quiet now in the 200 miles I’ve used my mount design…

I mounted my V1 under the mirror in my C7 but I didn't like the way it obstructed my view out the windshield, especially when stopped at a stoplight where it was right in the way of seeing the light.
I mounted my V1 above the infotainment screen in my C8. It sits lower than the lower edge of the windshield from my viewing angle and doesn't obstruct my view out the windshield at all.

I just ordered the 3 pack of mirror taps off of Amazon, used the smallest tap following the blendmount’s updated tap directions. Once the trim piece is off, it’s basically black to black and red to red.
Pic using the cheap/simple windshield 3m tape mount.... under 10 bucks. I've used these for 6 years now in this and my other 2 Porsche's. Easily seen but does not interfere with the windshield view.
Welp not so easy for us 1LT guys. I just fought to get that cover off and no wires for power. F@CK here we go
…mines a ‘24 1LT…there is an advantage to the ‘20-‘23 1LT though and that’s that I don’t think you have to modify the mirror trim piece like I did…I THINK I saw a post a while back that says the mounts I used off eBay will mount to the rearview mirror as intended on the 1LT’s that don’t have the camera mirror…
Is anyone grabbing power from the onstar/airbag panel? I found a sensor under the big plastic piece but I think it might have to do with the windshield and a sensor so I am not willing to tap there. Plus its only giving out about 8V. Sadly I have a Carbon panel over the stinking onstar/airbag panel so now i need to determine how thats removed.
@BandDirector You are correct. I was going through a bunch of old radar detector hardware I have, a "mirror mount" and it fits directly behind my mirror. I think its the same one in all my cars and I have just enough room behind the mirror. Downfall is it limits mirror adjustability BUT my setting is perfectly fine so who cares lol. Off topic are you really a band director LOL.

I AM! I’ve been a middle school band director the past 30 yrs., and at the ripe old age of 52, retired from public schools last year and now I’m the band director at a little Christian private school. I’m living the teacher’s dream of what we call “double dipping”. Drawing my retirement while continuing to teach in private school! I’m having the best year I’ve ever had as a teacher!

it's the the mount itself not where it mounts. Constantly chattered. I screwed around with it for a couple of months to stop the vibration/chattering, then sucked it up and bought the Blend. Never vibrates or chatters. I still have the $40er and compared. No comparison in construction. If the chatter doesnt bother you cool...it does me. Yours is a decent solution, as I have seen some solutions here that are real Bubba. What POs me is the BM for C8 is almost $100 more than for C7 or other cars. Either they are trying to recoup R&D for C8 mount or it is Vette tax.

Under the mirror is horrible in the C8 to mount a detector. I don’t know maybe I’m getting old but I can’t stand anywhere on this windshield to put a detector
