…that’s pretty much the same mount I’m using for my modification…it should fit a ‘20-‘23 1LT
Without the camera just fine, but there’s not enough room with the rearview camera mirror.

I’m not paying $240 for a BlendMount…I’m just not…
Here are a couple of pics of the finished product. This thread will document how I got to this finished point…
Mount installed and as viewed from driver POV. Mount made for Escort/Passport radar detectors. 2nd mount made for upgrade to Valentine One I plan to order soon…
(Scroll down to posts #9 and #17 to see finished product)
I ordered the black plastic mirror cap trim to try an idea and I’m happy to report it worked! I ordered one of the generic metal radar detector mounts that normally mounts to the rearview mirror off of eBay for like $22 shipped:
Originally, I just drilled 2 holes and tried to mount it in the mirror trim like this, but it just took up too much room inside the cap and the cap wouldn’t snap back on:
So then I realized I needed to go the other direction with the screws to leave as much room in the cap as possible so it would snap back into place:
Now I’m NOT happy about this part hanging down, so I do plan to hit the hardware store soon and see if I can find some shorter bolts & screws that will fit flush:
So as soon as I fix that minor cosmetic problem, I think I’ll be done. This is the way it looks and mounts now. It’s very sturdy as well:
Once I replace those screws that are hanging down, I’ll post up more pics., but the mirror trim cap is only like $16 from the dealer and using the eBay mount for around $22, I’ve got a secure way to mount my radar detector for around $40! I think I’ll be completely happy with it after I complete this project and really have it looking nice!
I am sorry but this looks like it will fall off after the first few bumps on the road. The Blend mount I can take to the racetrack leave it on and I have no concern of it falling off.
Good effort but I do not think it is a great idea. I will try a better mounting spot other than this plastic piece.

The plastic trim piece is held on by FIVE clips. I’ve put several hundred miles on it now and it’s been rock solid. It’s even solid when I hit the mute button.
I have no issue if other people want to pay $240 for a BlendMount, but I’m VERY happy with how solid my mount has proved to be.
OK, so I’ve put about 40 miles on my C8 since I made this mount and I’m happy to report it’s solid! No issues at all with it trying to fall off or pulling the trim cap off when I hit bumps!
can the detector be adjusted to move up tighter to the mirror? I think I see a picture where you have done that.

Yes. If you don’t mind the detector being moved forward, you can actually get it tucked right up under the mirror. The Escort mount looks a little odd doing it this way, but the V1 mount I made will actually do it and look better I think. It has to do with where the radar detector mounts on the end of the bracket…
Adjust the circled piece to the front, instead of the rear as pictured, and you should be able to get the detector mounted more snug under the mirror:
i will never buy a blend mount. Its thievery at what they charge. Secondly, the blendmount does not adjust on all 3 axis, leaving it looking crooked sometimes and you're just screwed. I made a really nice setup with one of the double ball-joint one I had—very similar to OPs. i have pics posted somewhere on this forum. I chose to mount it on the plastic piece that covers the camera. it it higher and more forward than mounting in the normal place, and is more on the periphery of the window. it looks very good, very professional, and cost me just over 10% of the blendmount price. i had that mount on my ATS-V, and was really annoyed that even though it was the most expensive mount sold by far, adjustments possible were very limited. I consider Blendmount as more of a scam to fleece customers who bought an expensive car. its certainly not a fine mount.

The mount is very adjustable, so just playing around with it, you can do something like this. It gets it closer to the mirror and closer to the driver:
That whole mirror mount thing is way too gangly looking for me. I put my R3 upper left with the suppied section cup mount. Simple, clean and doesn't annoy the wife as much. Not concerned about rear approaching radar.

…I actually prefer that spot as well, but no matter what type of suction cup mounts I run, stock, or ones with the gigantic single cup, they all let loose on me eventually and when they do, at least one of 3 things happens:
-damages the power cable
-damages the radar detector
-damages interior trim
I’ve run the visor mounts too, but then when I need the visor, I can’t…

Been using 2 and 3 suction cup mounts, haven't had those issues. A cup might come loose, but I just push it back on, doesn't happen often.
I just picked up an escort Mx 360c mk2. It has a new mag mount that’s great, but sits on a hefty suction cup that will not move. I tucked it right above my head tight to the mirror , no blockage. now to see if the $700 detector is worth a hill of beans.
The only great thing so far about this detector. Is it Wi-Fi and all your updates and all your settings can be adjusted right there on your phone
…Found a used V1 G1 for $120 and just installed it with my mount. I plan to upgrade to a V1 G2 before too long, but I can get a V1 closer to the mirror than my Escort:
Under the mirror is horrible in the C8 to mount a detector. I don’t know maybe I’m getting old but I can’t stand anywhere on this windshield to put a detector
I am a Blendmount fan, but don't use it in my C8. It just seems to block too much of the view out of what is already a smaller windshield.
It still hangs to low for me, as does the blend mount. But, you get an "A" for effort.
I can respect that…I’ve got it to the point now that V1 is at about the same level as it would be with an actual BlendMount. Some of my earlier versions with the Escort did hang entirely too low…
