I have the Pro Clip mount. It attaches to the back of the info screen and it is easy to remove if needed. I never could get used to the charging pod between the seats, so decided on the Pro Clip.
Even though the car attempts to alert you that the phone is in the charger, I still would have to go back and retrieve the phone. The Pro Clip just works for me and a short cable to plug
the phone in is all that's needed. Runs behind the cup holders and isn't really noticeable.
I put my phone in the console charging station when I get in before I do anything else and take it out as I exit the car. If I'm going to forget it there, I'll forget it right in front of me just like I sometimes do when I leave it on the charger in the center console of my Ford Edge.
I used the ProClip but not their phone holder. I tried it but it's not convenient to put the phone in or take it out, nor did I think that it would hold the phone if used horizontally during cornering maneuvers....
I bought their 17mm ball attachment and used my favorite iOtti phone holder on the ProClip mount. .
I arrived at the ProClip after trying three or 4 other mounts. There was one that suction cupped to the back of the screen, but the suction cups kept failing. I tried on that goes on the dash, but it too wouldn't stick without coming loose. I don't want to use ANY mount that attaches to the glass or interferes with my vision thru it, as the constabulary may pull you over for having something that interferes with your sight. The ProClip keeps the phone below the windshield sight line.
If I were to buy an entertainment system mount for my iPhone, I would get something using the MagSafe charging system as would be using wireless CarPlay. So far, it seems as though ProClip are the only company offering a MagSafe option that works on the C8...go to the 9:57 timestamp...
I put my phone in the cup holder. Fits perfectly. Works great.
I never been a fan of anyone putting their phone down low especially in a cup holder because if the phone rings it’s instinctive to look at a phone resulting in lowering one’s head. On the other hand ProClip C8 holder is in direct sight of the windshield.
Yeah I know you don’t do that but trained motor skills result in unconscious action.
Your post got me into reading up on Android Auto. That is the right thing to do! Now I don't need a phone mount because I no longer need to look at my phone. Thanks for your post.
Ok. I don't really like putting my iPhone in the charging spot the C8 provides. It is hard to reach and makes it easy to forget the iPhone leaving the car. But, I see no reason to mount my iPhone Pro Max right next to the infotainment display. First, the iPhone Pro Max is huge and looks ridiculous mounted there. Second, I don't actually need to see the display while I am driving. So, I am contemplating a different solution utilizing some kind pocket hanging off the center console somewhere. This pocket would have a MagSafe charger integrated into it and I would just slide the iPhone into the pocket. The pocket would align the iPhone so the MagSafe charger would line up perfectly and charge the iPhone. The iPhone would only go into the pocket 3/4s of the way so it would be easy to take out when leaving the car.
Anyone else either contemplate something like this or actually implement it?
