Noticing that December's Production Tracker by @Midlifegoals is tracking 19 C8s, with 3 scheduled for NCM delivery. With 10 cars currently being tracked for the January cycle, ZERO are slated for NCM.
I'm curious if the Bowling Green plant shutdown planned for 05 Feb has been a deciding factor NOT to have an NCM delivery.
It's gonna suck if those guys opting for NCM delivery have their TPW pushed past 5 Feb.
Maybe the R8C delivery option increase from $1,000. to $1,500. has something to do with it. I just don't understand why GM put an additional $500 on NCM delivery.
Wasn’t for me, but the dealer I found with a Z06 allocation never did a museum delivery before and wasn’t comfortable with it. Was comfortable in sacrificing it due to dealer only being 60 miles away from me and cost savings.
But I still wanted to do R8C even with the plant tour being off the table.

It surprised me, too, during the tracking. I'm not sure if it was factory tour related or cost related. I'm not sure, but I'm excited to go and pick mine up on the 15th!

So time will tell with this change in price. I can tell you I did the deliver at the 995 price and thought (with the exception of the photographer )it was a great value. My next Corvette I will do the RC8 again , But may not feel it was as great a value as when I only paid 995
Having just received my C8 at NCM, I would have paid $2K for that experience. The Factory tour was incredible! Not having the Factory tour will diminish the experience for sure….I don’t know how much it will impact the NCM delivery experience but I have to say I think it is a huge loss. Getting a rain check and doing the tour later is just not going to be the same thing as going as part of your delivery day experience.
I've done 3 NCM deliveries, and I agree that with the increased price, it may be a deciding factor in people not wanting to do it. However, the NCM is independent of GM, so the decision to raise the price was made by NCM, not GM.

What??? Not true. GM absolutely sets the price. Latest increase likely done by GM to reduce the number opting to take it. I was told by my NCM delivery host back in 2006 that GM reimburses the museum less than half the $490 MSRP at that time. Keep in mind that R8C has an invoice price as well meaning the selling dealer is getting a 10% slice of the pie as well.
Agreed that the option is "too popular", raising the price allocates to those who place the highest value on the option.
Predelivery by the most experienced team in the world is worth at LEAST the asking price.
The "Corvette Boulevard" experience is probably worth $50-100, the factory tour $25-50 and I'm being generous, the rest is all in having only 1 mile on the auto transporter and the experienced predelivery.
I went to Bowling Green last weekend so I could do the plant tour on Monday - I didn't want to miss doing in case they don't come back. I'm not getting a new C8 (anytime soon) but during and after the tour I REALLY wanted one. It was amazing watching them get put together. If I ever do get a new Corvette I'd want the museum delivery and I'd want to do the plant tour again too. Even without the tour, I think I'd do it - it was pretty cool seeing the new cars waiting for their owners at the museum. BTW, I drove my 1996 that I got in November from SE Virginia to the museum/plant tour. I was amazed at how well my car handled the trip, in spite of all the stupid rain - and even a little snow on Monday.

Were you on the 2:30 tour, by chance? I was the fella drooling over seeing his car being built, if so.
no, I was in the 12:30 tour - I was drooling over watching other people's cars being built. I really enjoyed the tour. I parked my car with a couple of C8s, C6s, and a C5 in the Corvette only parking area, which made me feel special.
1 - Pre delivery work is performed by the museum staff, the most experienced team in the world. Priceless. Problem? They rectify it with the factory FAST.
2 - Car is parked on Corvette Boulevard. Whoo.
3 - A nice person introduces you to the car. Reviews manual. Says things like "The manual says you can lower the top up to 35mph, but you should always be fully stopped so that the wind doesn't blow the car over." "You should put the key fob in the front cupholder every time you start the car, or the computer will be confused." Seriously. And she would not back down on any point.
4 - Cramped oldish van ride to see the factory that looks like, every factory you've ever toured. Sluggish workers doing the minimum to install components. With plenty of made up facts like "Every Corvette is on two week quality hold BY LAW" though mine was delivered in two days from completion.
5 - Bad photos. For a fee.
Seriously, you are paying $1,450 for #1 and the rest are worth $10 each.
If by a miracle there is ever an ERay with the full display screen available like 2020-2023 C8's, I'd do museum delivery again for the bargain price.
If I get one of the delivery professionals that doesn’t know squat about the car, I’m going to cut the tour short and drive on out of there. No questions asked. I won’t be rude, but I have no intention of listening to a poorly trained person tell me about the car. The museum needs to be hiring pros, period.
I have done 2 museum deliveries and they were fun but I have to say I am amazed that so many here rave about the experience. It is exciting to have your new Corvette lined up with all the others inside but nothing else was outstanding IMO. Sure, everyone is really nice but I wouldn't consider again it at today's price.
I have done two NCM Deliveries--One in Jan 2015 and one in Jan 2024. 50% increase in price and 50% decrease in the NCM Delivery "experience."
1. The delivery team member that walks you through the paperwork and shows you the car are top notch--They know their stuff. During my first visit in 2015 , the team member took more time. Basically, I had him for the whole day. This time he had another C8 to deliver in the afternoon.
2. I had issues with the photographer this time. He never explained that the photography was an additional cost ($125). He worked pretty hard, and he hung around until the end of the delivery process. As he was showing us the photos and getting my email/home addresses, that's when it became obvious that there would be an additional cost if we wanted the photos. The quality of the photos was below average despite having a big fancy camera. My I Phone took better photos. I know--The I Phone takes good photos, but if you are going to charge an additional $125 for a few photos, they ought to be damn good. The colors were washed out and the exposure contrast was not good, especially the outside shots. He messed with the edit adjustments, but the photos were still not very good. He just needs to be better trained or get a better camera. They need to be upfront with the additional cost at the beginning of the delivery process.
3. The factory tour was about the same, except before you had a private tour verses the NCM group tour. The actual tour was great. Not a big deal, but just another indicator that you are getting less for more money.
4. After the delivery of your Corvette, you used to be able to drive you Corvette under the bridge and park it in front of the factory entrance doors and take photos. There is a digital sign above the door that congratulated the people that took delivery that day. Your name(s) were there. The names that were on the digital sign this time were the names from 3 days before. Come on guys--Attention to detail. Now the factory (UAW) won't allow you to drive into the parking area by the entrance doors--It is blocked off with a removable pole. Additionally, the NCM van used to be able to drive right up to the door. They claim it was for "safety" reasons.
5. The NCM Delivery team member in 2015 used to give you a private tour of the museum. They would show you some areas that the general public didn't get to see. Now it is a self-guided tour.
6. In 2015, you could drop off your Enterprise rental car at the NCM and give the keys to the NCM delivery team staff. Enterprise would come pick up the car. That is no longer an option. You can schedule a NCM shuttle pick up at the rental office--For $25.
7. In 2015, when you went to the store to purchase personalized R8C merchandise, you were taken into a separate room. Now they just put you over in a corner of the main store with a salesperson.
When I mentioned the differences that I noticed between 2015 and now, this was the answer--Before it was an experience now it's a business. I have no idea who sets the price, but if you have too many requests for the NCM Delivery, just limit the number of deliveries. Don't jack up the price to keep people away and produce a mediocre experience. It is not a good look for the Corvette brand.

Currently, everyone who thinks the experience is worth the asking price gets to have the NCM option. With the change above, some people who think it is worth the (lower) asking price will NOT get to have the option, and some people who get the option would have paid more. That's not an improvement.

Kinda what I thought. I've done 3 BMW European Deliveries. Incredible experience but no longer offered for US customers. Thanks.
