Found a cream puff ‘21 C8 10k miles, z51, magneride, front lift. LT3. Perfect condition. 1 owner clean title no wrecks BUT carfax listed as stolen from original owner and recovered. Getting it for $78k.
is this a big deal? I would say no. Appreciate any and all thoughts before I complete the sale…
Have you reviewed the service records to see if all required maintenance was performed? Particularly important is the 7500 mile transmission service and at what intervals was the engine oil and filter changed....
Personally, I wouldn't touch a stolen C8 as you have no idea as to how much abuse it may have received...

Thanks all. It is a convertible. I found out the real story just a few minutes ago…first and only owner put it on Marketplace and sold it to a buyer without doing much check on the buyer. Handed him the keys in his driveway and took a personal check. Check bounced, he claimed theft, insurance wouldn’t pay, finally got it back…
Food for thought, just had a 2022 Camry in the shop. It has a branded title (stolen & recovered), due the titling all warranty’s are void. Also the clients extended coverages were denied and refunded.
they client took the money on the car and then when found they paid the insurance back. While it’s not a vette is steer way clear.
also as a dealer a car with a title like that would get hit so hard on trade in so the price seems very high as well.

-How much abuse did it take during the 10,000 miles of driving? Anyone attempting to defraud a seller in such a way wouldn't likely properly care for a vehicle they knew they'd be losing at some point, anyway.
-If the seller got his original car back, why is he selling it?
The "deal" on the vehicle sounds too good to be true... if he's willing to walk away at $78K, that says something.
Theft recovery wouldn’t make a difference to a used car bought from a dealer without knowing previous history. If it has the options you want at a price good for you go for it.
First 78 grand is wayyy too much for any 2021. If the car was returned and the insurance didn’t pay then technically it’s not a branded title. Still you could probably pick up a nice 2023 2LT for that kinda cash. Check out Car Edge.
78 sounds way too high for a theft recovery. Usually they have been driven like stolen.
You really need to check it out to see if it has been thrashed.
It's high risk. I would think 68 would the max price for the risk you are taking.
It's not worth it for any over that. You need to make a low ball offer on that or walk away.
I bought a theft recovery Camaro once. Low mile car with no hood, battery, no water pump or starter.
Price Sounded good until I discovered the motor was blown.

I might in some instance but not for that price......way too high. Price would have to be lowered by a lot because you will eat it when you try to sell....
