I remember reading in various posts that PPF is "self healing". I'm pretty sure what that implies, but does it really heal and how? The reason I ask is, I have a small rock impact mark on my front hood and it is still wounded so to speak. Do I have to perform some kind of treatment to get it to "heal"? Apply a bit of low heat, say from a hair dryer? I don't know what specific brand the PPF is.
Thanks
If the PPF film is punctured through the top film layer it will not self-heal....Fine scratches on the top surface of the film will self-heal with heat applied...
Try pouring hot water on the area if the damage didn't go through the film. That's what my PPF guy with my Expel brand. The blemish vanished in seconds
I had a good size rock hit the front of my PPF and it made a small "wart". One day I was close to the PPF installer so stopped by and was told the PPF had closed around the would but would be visible unless replaced. He did show me how light scratches would disappear using hot water.
I had a rock hit and create a pinhole through the PPF. It saved the paint, but I have a permanent puncture through the PPF. Not self healing for a full penetration.

As they say in the business, it’s paint protection not perfection.
When using a hear gun or hair dryer it doesn't need to be HOT, just warm. I have seen PPF melted by someone who thinks more heat is better. parking the car in the bright sun works pretty well also.
