Default Central Florida Dealer Recommendations

I’m looking for any dealer service experiences (good and bad) that C8 owners have had with Chevrolet Dealers in Central Florida (Orlando). I bought my ‘21 Z51 in April with 12k miles. The CarFax shows that the transmission was serviced at 5k miles but has not been touched since. All it shows is that the fluid and filter were changed at that time. The car is 3-1/2 years old now with 15.5k miles. The bumper-to-bumper has expired but I still have the balance of the 5/50 power train warranty left. I want to get an honest assessment on what I need to do to keep the warranty good in the DCT. I’ve seen several posts about transmission failures not being covered under warranty because of missed, mandatory servicing.
I’d like to go to a dealer that will give me an honest assessment without puffing smoke up my exhaust pipe.
TIA
Ron

Bob Steele in Cocoa seems to do good work, but be prepared to kill 4 hours. Their Tech has a good reputation in this area.

as far as reading the fine print for the warranty, I can’t speak to their knowledge of that.

Don Mealey Chevrolet is a high volume corvette dealer in Clermont. However you said the transmission has not been touched since 5,000 miles correct? I believe the transmission needs to be serviced at 7,500 +/- 500 miles to keep warranty intact even if the service was done at 5,000 miles.

Slight REDEMPTION – Bob Steele Chevrolet;

Took my 2024 Stingray to Bob steel last month. This was the 2nd visit to Steele –the 1st visit (last Jan) was GM req 7500 mile oil and DCT filter service. (Oil was also changed by Vegas dealer in June when I hit 14,500 mi). Made an appt at Steele (online) in advance. Specified ‘Oil Change AND DCT Canister Filter change’ in the appt request. Car had 20,000 on it by time of appt. BUT I was about to embark on a 2500-3000 mile trip and wanted it done before the DCT Filter countdown reached 0% (was abt 11%).

On Arrival, Service ‘advisor’ greets me and asks what I’m there for? (didn’t look up the appt) Tell her I have appt for Oil Change and DCT Canister Filter change. She looks ‘puzzled and says ‘Transmission Filter –that requires a Transmission Fluid change’. I should have either requested a different Service Advisor or left. I explained, no, just the external DCT canister filter. She wasn’t convinced. They took the car in and I went to the waiting room. About an hour later, I get a text msg “During our multi-point inspection we found additional services your vehicle may require -Needs immediate attention:”

This is the exact language:

Recommended service $940.25 - Replace Automatic transmission fluid | Recommend Transmission service at 22,500 miles

Recommended service $639.95 15KPREM | Includes a complete fuel service that clears carbon deposits in the engine, and the replacement of both the cabin and engine air filters

I immed text back, “DECLINED. What about DCT filter change requested?”. She replies she’ll check with tech. Ten minutes later I get a text, “Tech says it doesn’t need it” Car is ready.

Decide not to do battle –took the car/paid for Oil change (a fair $140 +tx) and left IRRITATED and ready to post a SCATHING review here and with GM. I find it Insulting that they try this

Needs immediate attention CRAP when the C8 maint sched is as plain as could be on common items (45k or 3 years for the Trans fluid…. 45k miles OR 4 years, on the Engine Air filter ---not to mention the in-car countdown meters that any idiot could glance at; And Cabin air filter is something I already changed (annual) myself—they don’t ask or check??).

Went on 3000 road trip and sure enough, DCT monitor counted down to 0% when I was still 800-900 miles from home. Decided to stretch and wait to take it back to Steele for the DCT filer replacement.

Made an appointment this week (3rd visti to Steele) and specified DCT EXTERNAL CANISTER FILTER ONLY in request. Arrived on time and a (different) service writer checked me in, checked my appt and confirmed to me I was in for DCT Canister change –all good signs. I explained I was in last month and tried to get this done at the same time as the oil change and it went sideways. He didn’t try to answer/explain/apologize that, just that it would get done that day. Went to waiting area expecting the BULL$H-T recc service messages. Never came. Instead, the Service writer came up to me to tell me the tech was slightly behind and he’d get me an update when known. 3.5 hrs after check in, the car was ready. Total Tab was $700+tax….about what I expected.

One complaint that I have to live with: The tech leaves dirt tracks – I cover the seat with my own protector now, but he still leaves smudges on the door pull and the door panel (sky cool grey, so its not like it isn’t noticeable). But the mechanical work is all flawless, so I put up with it. The only other dealer less than an hour away has a less than stellar rep for service work. Going forward, if I get the slightest sense the Service Writer isn’t familiar with the C8, I’m asking for someone else or leaving.

I have used Carl Black in Orlando, they have Corvette techs that perform the work. They have a service advisor Trey Caldwell who is the Corvette specialist. My 2023 C8 SR has had the engine oil and Trans oil and filter serviced there twice. Price wise about what the other dealer charged ( I checked ). I also had the software update with them too.

I went to Bob Steele for my oil change. Took forever, but didn't screw it up. Boniface-Hiers Chevrolet is closer to me. Any opinions on them doing the DCT filter?
