Hi Folks
Now that early C8s are coming out of warranty does anyone know what it really costs to replace the DCT if it breaks outside of warrenty? I have heard a variety of numbers between $15k and $30K. I have yet to hear of a transmission shop that has the knowhow to fix these DCTs instead of replacing them.
My local dealer tells me about $25,000.00 parts and labor depending on parts availability and cost at time of replacement.
25 large to replace a transmission in a car that can be purchased new for 80 is absolutely ridiculous. You could very well see Mercedes and Jaguar depreciation rates on C8s as these insane repair costs out of warranty become common knowledge. This is really bad on numerous levels.
I saw a "typical" new car warranty of 5 years on the Chevrolet site and since the 1st C8s are coming up on 5 years now I thought the warrantys would be expiring on some of the early cars? Chevrolet Warranty
Hard to believe the C8 has been in production for 5 years
The power train warranty on my 2020 expires 10/2025.

I don't believe any C8s powertrain warranty are done yet. The first 2020s rolled off early 2020 and probably the first one sold to a customer to start the warranty countdown was somewhere end of January 2020 or beginning of February.
This would mean the powertrain warranties shouldn't be over until 2025 somewhere between January and March.
I think part of the issue s there not enough core trade transmissions to do rebuilds. At some point they should be rebuilt units available for a lot less money.
