I've searched, but not found my specific issue in any prior threads or posts. I have a 2022 C8 Corvette, and I am dinosaur, in that I still use an Apple iPod to play music in the car. My iPod is one of the last that Apple made. It's a 256GB iPod Touch. I connect the iPod to the car using a cable, the USB connection in the center console. It works fine, but I find that after playing for maybe 10-15 minutes, the input just seems to stop. The screen on both the iPod and the car show that everything should be fine, but it just stops playing through to the car. I've found that if I shut down the iPod and restart it, the sound comes back on through the car just fine. This seems to happen pretty regularly, Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, have you figured out a fix? Thanks.
USB cables don't last forever. I'd try another cable to see if the issue persists. Inserting/removing the USB plug will wear on the many tiny wires stranded inside them. Particularly the $1 Store variety. No reason to spend a fortune on one, but a decent replacement from amazon et al is a potential solution. If you have a can of compressed air (keyboard cleaner), blow out the USB port on the car. Blow the cable ends out as well. Maybe some debris got lodged in it from insertion cycling. Wipe off both ends of the USB cable. Easy stuff to do that is also easy to overlook.
And as I type, I'm looking at a perfectly good red iPod Touch Gen 7 that I got as a Christmas gift when it was the cat's meow. I have it paired to my Bluetooth Bose Q35 headphones. I keep it charged so I can fire it up every once in a while for grins. Last made in 2019, no Apple support from 2022. It is yesterday's newspaper. But it plays my music file like I bought it yesterday. So I get the desire to use older tech instead of putting your iPod in the out of sight out of mind drawer.
Be sure all your updates are installed. ISO 18.
also use your blue tooth instead of the cable. Put your phone in the charger would be my suggestion.
I have a 22 Sting Ray and have no issues.
I don’t think the iPods were Bluetooth? I may be wrong about OP’s model but I had a later version and it did not. This was my setup on my C5 until getting the C8. Just thinking that if you have a iPhone now OP, that same music should be in your Apple Music library. That would solve any problems and eliminate cords. As mentioned above if you want to remain old school, try a new cord, it’s likely the issue.

Listening to my Touch Gen 7 on my Bose Bluetooth Q35s even as I type. iPod Touch has had Bluetooth since the Gen 2 in 2008.
Would it be worth putting your music on a USB and plug it in? Just a thought….not sure how much maneuvering on USB music the C8 infotainment system has or if the quality suffers to a point where it’s noticeable.
I fired up my Touch Gen 7 and played music until it died. Just short of 3 hours. Old tech still works, but doesn't always work so well. If you figured out how to download your music file to the Touch, you can download the iTunes music file to an iPhone. Then use Apple Car Play wirelessly. Works pretty sweet.
I own a couple of Ipod classics, in general they don't work well plugged the GM Mylink system (I own three GM vehicles, 2014, 2017 and 2023). Mine do the same thing yours does in all three vehicles. Fortunately I have a 128gb iphone so just have all my music on there and use bluetooth to play it, works flawlessly.
They have to backwards engineer Mylink to talk to the IOS, so doesn't always work. But when you use a common standard like bluetooth, it will work.

It's not a supported device through USB so you're gonna have problems, I'm surprised it even works through USB at all. Don't 2022's still have a 3.5mm input? Just use that. Otherwise, bluetooth.
Or even better buy an old iphone and use it as an ipod, you'll be able to run your music through carplay that way. Phone doesn't have to be activated, keep it in airplane mode.
Thanks for all the answers, folks. My iPod is the last one that Apple made, so it's a Touch with Bluetooth. I actually never tried to connect the iPod via Bluetooth, and perhaps I should. I just figured that a hard USB cable would be a more reliable connection, but perhaps not. The cable is an actual Apple cable that is/was essentially brand new, but that doesn't guarantee perfect performance. I will try both the Bluetooth option, and a different USB cable and see if either of those 2 fixes address my problem. Thank you again to all of you who took the time to answer!
P.S.: By the way, I DO have an iPhone 15 that I suppose I could put my music on. I have a 256MB iPod, but nowhere near full, so my much smaller hard drive on my phone may be enough to hold all my music. I'll try the other 2 fixes first, and if they don't fix the indue, I'll try to use my phone. Again, thanks.
OK, I don't use my phone for everything like most people do, but I do have a playlist of good driving music (14 hours) on a USB plugged in the center console.
I never have to touch it. No cables, no buttons. Music starts when I start the car. It just plays continuous, all my favorite songs.
Search is not available but I don't need it. I can FF with a steering wheel button that advances to the next song.
Could not be any easier than that.
