Default Door Sill Protectors

Anybody using these? If so, does it interfere at all with the door closing completely? Thanks.

I seen some carbon replacements on ebay for $200. They were not covers but actual replacements that clipped in. I can no longer find them. I only see the $300 dollar one now. I would just get that instead.

Default Expel

I just had both of my sills done with Expel PPF for $75 installed. Some of the products online look pretty cool though.

I have the plastic door sill protectors on my C7 and had them on my C5s. They work well, but over time there is the possibility of them scratching the paint on the sills, I had Xpel put down first and that has prevented any scratches.

And when installed they do not interfere with the doors closing.

I just wrapp the door sill with 3M 2080 carbon fiber vinyl. It works perfect and it’s about 30 bucks…

Those plastic covers eventually scratch the paint in my experience. took me quite a while to buff out the damage. PPF is much better. IMHO

Have used clear door sill protectors for years and love them easier on and easy off and protects the sills. Purchase from Southern Car Parts.

no impact to door opening

That was my experience with the plastic door sill protectors. They tend to move around a little and scratch the sill more than a pair of shoes. I removed them after a couple of months of use.

Looks like I went full circle, my dad had a Dodge DeSoto with the clear plastic covering the seats and why not with 3 young boys. We wrecked the back seat anyways.

Well you guys got me looking at sills again, and I pulled the trigger on a set of carbon fiber replacement sills rather than the covers. Figured it would better not having to worry about water getting under the tape in that area and ruining them. $400, so it wasn't too bad.

Had them on my Last '99 and they worked great - after 20 years though they began to crak - even though in climate controlled garage in Illinois I think time took it's toll ... but never scratched the paint.

Like the idea of Ceramic expel though ... him choices!

Ah. Yeah looking at that plastic. I would think there is no way you could. I'm not a fan of the way those things look. I think they look awful and I would personally never use them. However I can see that they are effective in what they do, but take away from the look of the car IMO. But you cant deny the utilitarian purpose and or argue with it. Its effective, so I see the use case.

My water comments were for something like this. They are carbon fiber sill covers that adhere with 3M tape.
For C8 Corvette Stingray Coupe HTC 20+ Carbon Inner Door Plate Sill Scuff Covers | eBay
They are affordable, and cover the chrome looking sills that scare up easy....but I would be afraid of water getting under there over time and working the tape out. Maybe not as people have been putting them on the boomerangs with no problems.

I liked this type of solution better looking for protecting the seals. I decided to get a replacement set that snaps in and is all one piece with resin rather than 3m tape.
