The first day I had my brand new 24 2LT Stingray, I got Key Missing Check for Key mesage. The car started fine so I didn't think anything of it. Over the next couple of months the message would appear at random time no matter which key fob I used. I was able to get it to the Chevy dealer while the message was on. The technician had the car for 3 days and blamed it on a center console armrest I installed that has an LED in it that says Stingray and plugs into the USB port in the armrest. He claimed it was interferring with the signal. I explained to him this has been happening since day 1 but he had decided that was the cause. I have had 2 other key fobs made by Car Key Express, changed the battery in the original Key Fobs and still have the issue. The car still starts and operates fine. Yesterday the car started and operated fine but after a couple of minutes I received the message "Key Missing One restart allowed." Which I thought was kind of funny. If the key is missing why is any restart allowed? I'm at a loss. It is so random of course when I take it to the shop it doesn't happen. Any suggestions. Tried to upload pictures but feature is not working for me

Reason: mispelling
Disconnect the LED so no one can blame it on that, and find another dealer.
One restart is allowed so that if you accidentally drive away from home (or work) and leave the key behind, you don't get stuck at wherever your destination is.
A quick question, where do you carry your fob? I have found that if I have it in my left pocket and have a different fob in my right pocket or the same pocket the car gets confused. I now carry it in my right pocket and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Don't know if this will help but similar thing happened to me. 2022 Z51 - Had 3 events: 1. Would not recognize fob on start, but started okay. 2. No fob detected, you have one start left. 3. Parking in garage, push start/stop button to turn car off and get "No key fob detected". However, pushing the button did shut off the car. Tried new battery, different key fob, etc. Could not replicated at dealer and did not take picture of message. I know it does not make sense, but I removed the aftermarket carbon fiber key fob cover and problem never came back. CF cover should not interfere but maybe it did or software glitch. Now, having said that, I now have that same CF cover on my Z and no messages yet.
Following to see your outcome.....
Edit: PS I also tried putting the fob in the cup holder - still got the message.
I have heard that about the carbon fiber key covers, but thought the same thing. I will try removing them and see what happens. I appreciate all the suggestions.
I have 100% had carbon fiber key fob covers cause this issue. Removing the fob cover fixed the issue. Carbon fiber distorts RF signals, it is not a pass through like plastic.
Wow! You get one "free" start? Guess that's how the stolen C8's got off the BG lot. Damm, guess I need to lock my doors every stop.
You only get a restart if the vehicle thinks the key was removed while the engine was running. You can't just jump in the car and start it without a key.
Doesn't seem like the OP's problem, but for others with occasional issues, remember these fobs go to sleep, so if you leave it in the cup holder or something for a while, the vehicle will no longer detect the key and you have to shake it to wake it up.
So far so good. I have done 3 starts with no issues today. I will keep my fingers crossed. You would think Chevy would know about this problem and issue a service bulletin to the dealerships.,
So glad I saw this. I've had this happen multiple times but it has been since I put a carbon fiber cover on my fob. Guess I'll go back to my silicone cover
I am sure Chevy knows about this, a key FOB uses common RF technology and there are many things that can interfere, not just carbon fiber covers. It seems not all dealers do though.
