New Struts / Engine bay cleanup
After a few exterior mods (taillight blackout, front canards, and tint), I turned my attention to the engine bay. That’s where I set my bag every day for work, and the more I looked at it, the more it bothered me. I first tried polishing the surrounding black plastic, but it didn’t give me the results I wanted.
From there, I added the red engine cover and painted the flag. My wife picked up the black engine bay panels for me, and I just received the new struts from D1 Customs. They are significantly more solid than the factory struts—about 3.5 lbs each and very sturdy. They came with new hardware and an Allen wrench, which was a nice touch. There was a small issue lining up the holes on the struts with the panels, but I was able to work through it.
Overall, the engine bay looks much better now. My next step will likely be adding a carbon-fiber surround to replace some of the remaining black plastic. If you’re looking for upgraded struts, I highly recommend D1 Customs. I can’t comment yet on how they feel while driving—or if there’s any noticeable difference—since the snow we’ve had hasn’t exactly allowed for much seat time.
Oh, and my new plate came in. LOL
The garage looks great too. You have a lot of pride and investment. Wonderful. If I was younger, I would love to have a garage like yours.
