They may have a temporary ADM, but that hopefully will cease quickly. At least in my case there is no way I would pay an ADM for a car.

For sure by next winter it will get easier to order at MSRP and not have to wait on a list. Leftovers on dealer lots will be discounted but you will have to take what they ordered and many dealers will do the same thing they have been doing which is ordering highly optioned GS's for inventory and then discounting them. So you pay more for options you did not really want or would not order if you optioned a car yourself. If you wait long enough you will be able to order a GS for an 8 or 10% discount but by that time MSRPs will also be inflated with the usual annual price increases and the noise about the impending C9 will be so loud on the forums that you will want to just pass on the C8 altogether. Now you begin the wait all over again for the C9 GS - sometime around 2037 and discounts to begin around 2038 or so....

Has there ever been a GS that didn’t offer better performance than a well optioned base model?

As I understand it the GS will be a wider and slightly heavier version of the 27 SR with some of the track options as standard. I don’t know which of the two will have the best performance numbers.

If it turns out that the GS has nothing to offer above a track optioned SR beyond cosmetic appeal it seems like worry over price mark ups and lead time might be exaggerated.

Has it ever (in recent years) or am I missing something?

Perhaps I made an invalid assumption, I always thought the GS models had something extra but never bothered to verify.

Same engine and running gear as the SR but just cosmetics beyond that. Well maybe bigger tires for the widebody and perhaps a little suspension tweakage (brakes, IDK?) but really how much more can the 95% of us who don’t track them use on the street over the SR?

Now if the GS had a significant HP bump it’d be a whole different story…

Agree, it will be interesting to see if the GS is that much faster around a track than a Z51 Stingray when both have the same engine and HP. Tires do make a big difference on track but this should be interesting. I keep hearing that the Stingray will not only receive the same motor but will also be getting suspension tuning as well but this is just track talk. There will be zero difference between the cars on the street other than cosmetic appeal. I was planning from the start to go widebody Z06 but just got tired of waiting with all of the initial constraints as well as it was time to pull the trigger on a price I couldn't refuse for my C7. Ordered my 23' Stingray and after experiencing it on roads and on track I was just not compelled enough to spend the extra cash. The car is just that good even in lowly Stingray form and it's already a really wide car.

I am pretty sure I can order a Grand Sport at MSRP, however, the problem may be is what am I going to get for my '23? I have a 70th HTC with Z51 and mag ride with a tick over 8000 miles on it! From what I am seeing of used C8 values I think I will pass on getting one. Besides a comparable 2 LT or 3LT HTC GS is going to be 100k+. I sure can't see paying 30k + difference!!
