Navigation SD Card Error
I did try something interesting to see if it was the slot or???? I made a music SD card and inserted in the NAV slot, and it played fine and never stopped or glitched, so it does appear to be card related.
Here is an update on my shimming the SD Card which has worked for about a week. Well thought that was it but today at start-up No SD Card message. AND after pressing the NAV Icon on the center screen it goes though the steps of initiating etc but ends with the Blue Header message "NAV SD Card Error" in the center screen. Since I'm no longer using the free Sirius XM car has been starting with the USB I've used on my C7s. No high bit rate. All standard MP3s. In fact have had that USB plugged in for months as I tired to be sure it works BUT was only using Sirius. Car 1 year old yesterday!
So thought fine when I get home I'll pull the NAV SD card and see if it's like the thin old one I had that was 0.053" (which with my 0.032 plastic shim made it 0.085) OR like the NAV SD card you measured on 0.083"
BUT when I started it up after leaving the store all worked fine. Well one other thing that appears. Unlike my two C7's where when using the USB music car started music was playing near a message. Now I mostly get an initial message (where the No SD Card message appears to the right of the speedometer,) "No USB Connected." But as soon as the car is moving songs start playing from where it left off!
BOTTOM LINE
- Appears to reinforce most of the comments saying it's a software Buss issue.
- Why it occurred in my case after 10 months don't know.
- Has GM added something to the new SD card that delays any reading that would conflict with initiation on the buss?
- If there a software fix?

Thought dash message saying no SD card was for the PDR. Turned out it was not and I get the same message as others in the center screen (see pic.)
Thought perhaps it was an excessively thin SD card so added 0.032 plastic above the SD card and thought that solved the issue. Today all was fine on the trip to the store and after and when I returned got the familiar message (shown below.) BTW checked the SD card thickness and was like my PDR SD Card 0.083 inches.
Does appear to be a software issue but so far no GM software download program offered. Anyone found a solution??

So my update: After several dealer visits and them insisting that a new NAV card would fix the issue, I had to let them "try". I was convinced it wasn't going to work as I had already purchased a new map SD card and while it worked for about a week, same old problem came back. Well they put in a new SD card and SD port....... worked for about a week and now back to the same old issue. I don't believe in coincidences but after NAV SD card error pops up, next start up it takes a couple of minutes for usb to begin playing and it says rebidding index or media. I had bet the dealer $1000 that it wasn't going to work, but not holding my breath he will pay....LOL He was pretty surprised when I called and told him the issue was back.
So bottom line, problem not solved/resolved........
Hmm, see of the several threads on this subject I didn't post the solution that I tried and worked 98%!
This is a PDF with the details: NAV_SD_Card_Error.pdf (netwelding.com)
The problem and solution was defined by Z06DevilCar. I just found and easy way to implement.
The basic issue is NAV and the USB is started at the same time using the same Buss. If music is stored at higher than 160kbps it causes and error. He made a thumb drive with all MP3s less than 160kbps and the issue was resolved. I found 1/3 of my >1000 songs on my USB were over 180kbps and the problem occurred at about every 1/3 start! Found an easy way to set all at 160kbps or less and the problem is gone about 98% of the time!

THANKS!!!!!
I will try the Audacity solution.......
Just seeing if anyone who posted found a 100% solution.
