Default Wheel Options

I'm in the process of buying a 21 convertible in black and I need your opinion. The car won't be coming with the upgraded black Trident wheels, but I will be receiving them after the car arrives. I have the option of taking a nearly $3k credit and keep the regular wheels or wait for the upgraded wheels. After looking at various C8s with some fantastic wheels, I must admit I'm torn. If I were to take the credit and get new wheel, I would like the gloss black wheels of some kind. The Vossen wheels look incredible and I was just wondering what you would do if you were in my position. Also your input from going from 19/20 wheels to 20/21?

Take the credit and get after market wheels. There are so many better options and the after market wheels will most likely be lighter as well.

Bryan I'm in a similar situation, I don't love any of the wheel choices on the C8 from GM, paying for the more expensive trident wheels are better but not as nice as aftermarket design, weight and quality. The aftermarket is a bit overwhelming as you can spend anywhere from $1700 -$8k depending on what you get. I don't plan on spending at the high range so I'd be interested to hear what you get and if you were able to stay in your $3k price credit.

As Steve Miller said, "Go on take the money and run"!
A no brainer imo.

Aftermarket will give you a lot more better options. I didn't care for any of OEM rims and went aftermarket. I would take the credit. Best of luck with your decision.

All,

Thank you for your input I truly appreciate it. I'm going to start researching aftermarket wheels and I think going this route is better.

I will let you know for sure which way I end up going. Going to hopefully at wheels locally to see what the price difference will be (Shipping/installation/etc.). Based on feedback, I'm leaning towards taking the credit. I have asked for a quote from on one the forum suppliers for a set of 19/20 wheels as well as a full package for 20/21.

For the owners who upgraded to 20/21 wheels & hopefully have GM splash guards, I’m wondering if you are getting any kind of rubbing.

Thank you for time.

Default Had rim dilemma

I missed the cut off to change my order two black rims. My car was already in production. Because there is not one ounce of silver on the car, I favored the black wheels set up. To match all of the black accent trim. I was able to strike a deal with my local dealer to purchase a set of black trident wheels and OE tires for $3000, and I sold my original stock set of silver wheels and OE tires for $2200. So I ended up with the Trident black wheels for $800.

You made the right call. The black rims go great with the color of your car.

Just ordered today, white HTC with the 5 spoke black carbon flash. If I don’t like it I’ll change to aftermarket in a couple of years and I’ll have a new car again!

I ordered the silver trident wheels and once my car is here, I’ll order the chromed tridents from West Coast Corvettes and send my stock wheels back to them.

My preference was to go after market, lots of options there. I ended up ordering Vossen HF-5 20/21 in Carbon Flash finish. Had a set of Vossen on my previous vehicle and therefore decided to stick with the brand for the C8.

These are back ordered till mid May, I was able to acquire a set that is available now, will be powder coated and shipped to me next week. First time I am buying wheels before the car.

When spending for tires to fit the 20/21 size wheels, my rationale was I am buying a super car...not just any regular car.

I didn’t want to buy new tires to go 20/21. One reason I gave my wife for selling C7 Grandsport! Makes sense spend another 50k to save 8!! Worked though.
