Curious Behavior.
I rarely drive at night anymore. Early this morning, while still dark outside, I needed to move the cars out of the driveway as I'm having a carport built and they're coming early. When I moved the C8 I pulled up but was away from the curb, so I was doing the parallel park thing. When I backed up, the Info screen did as usual and the back up camera did it's thing, but when I pulled forward, NOTHING. Blank screen. I hit the button on the console to turn it on and ..nothing. I'm thinking a trip to the dealer is coming sooner than I thought. So I put the car into reverse, camera came on, I hit the button on the screen for a front shot and front cameras turned on. I put the car into Drive and they went out!?! I hit the console button again and .. nothing. ... Hmmmm. Very curious. Then I had an idea. I had the dimmer turned way down so I turned it up and sure enough, the front cameras work as usual...
TLDR: Who knew that the front cameras are disabled when the dash dimmer is turned way down with the headlights on? NOT ME.

Sort of makes sense as the display goes to night mode when turned all the way down. So the camera is working, it's just the display that is turned off! Not that that makes much difference from a functional standpoint. Good that you wrote this up to bring the issue to everyone's attention. I certainly rely heavily on the cameras whenever maneuvering in tight quarters. Without them I'd have to find a "wing walker" to help me out!
