I think it’s the experience. While visiting the museum last year people picking up their cars were thrilled. You get the deluxe treatment, pictures, etc.
I have gotten 2 Corvettes delivered there and the experience is worth it. If you can get a factory tour, it is even better. Then the drive home. The entire arrangment is just great. The delivery to the tour and the care that the Museum takes with you and your new car.
I’ve been. Not to pick up a car though. I’m not sure of any value added what with the manufacturer right across the street. However it costs an extra cool $995.00 just to pick it up there….

Does having your delivery at the museum add to the value of the car? And what are the benefits of having it at the museum?
If you genuinely love and appreciate Corvettes, an absolute must do simply for the experience. I absolutely do it again. I think for someone not as passionate about the car, not worth it.
I found it humorous that he enjoyed the experience and wanted someone else to pay for it.

Get with the times, pal... that's the (new) American way! From "We need 'free' preschool for my kids!" to "Cancel My Student Debt!," to "Medicare for All!," that's the direction we're headed.
"I demand goods/services... and I demand other people pay for it!

I am pretty sure you have to pay extra for the pictures, or if you want them taken as the car is being built.
Worth it if you are a Corvette nut, have plenty of time to spare, and don't mind paying $$$ for an experience.
Someone like myself who isn't a Corvette nut, and who will be buying it because of what it is--not because of the badge it wears--will be better served with spending the $$$ on options or on mods-upon-delivery (eg. PPF).
Not to mention it feels like a gratuity charge I'd be voluntarily paying GM--despite already knowing that there are tweaks and modifications I'd need to address because their product (while spectacular) has certain glaring shortcomings that will annoy the snot out of my OCD. Like the stealth interior trim not having enough parts. Like the horn cover not being suede to match a suede interior. And probably a dozen more nitnoid things from the side mirror color to OnStar being kneecapped.
For me, that feels like tipping 20% to a waitress that can't even keep my glass full.

Pictures of car being built isn't even an option right now because of the plant being shut down for tours. And even it it was, that photo book is an additional 1k on top of the museum delivery fee.
FYI the RC8 fee, the $1495, goes to the museum.. Not GM.
I'm not a corvette fanatic. As a matter of fact, I've really not liked corvettes much at all until I decided to pull the trigger on the C8. (that C7GS is a fine automobile though I will admit) But my late mom and dad were huge fans of the vette and owned several. And my dad took my younger brother and my nephew to the museum several times.
So to me, the $1495 is a small price to pay to get my vette delivered there, get the white glove treatment, and to surprise my brother and nephew with one last trip. This time we get to leave with one of these incredible machines.
Different strokes for different folks. Worth is subjective.
I am not a life-long Corvette nut. I have always appreciated the Corvette and liked the C2 from the first time I saw one at 5 years old. But a new Corvette was not really on my radar until the C8 came out. The C8 changed my whole outlook of the Corvette.
I am now a big fan. Especially after owning one for a month and half. Incredible car. Life is about experiences, not things. My wife and I enjoyed the RC8 experience immensely. Especially the Factory tour. It was well worth the money we paid for it. It certainly does not affect the value of the car. But it certainly affected the value of the experience and increased the sentimental value of the car.
both my C6s were delivered at the museum. C8 was planned to be delivered there but the delivery slipped to January and I didn't want to chance the weather in the mountains so I cancelled and had it delivered by the selling dealer. The experience was worth it for my planning the third delivery there. Museum folks treat you right and if there is a major issue, the factory is just across the street.
Museum delivery was nice (sorry, can't give it a better rating) for $995 in March 2023; the one mile transportation from the factory to Museum was gouging! Would only do it again if I won the lotto.
