I think the amount of vibration on this mount is excessive no matter how I have it adjusted. Especially on the highway, the mirror vibrates so much it is difficult to discern much in the rear view.
Yes. I am certain all screws are very tight. I am concerned that it may be loosening my mirror but since I did not pay any attention to how tight the mirror was at the onset, I am not sure.
Has anyone else encountered this? Any Pro-Tips? I'm pretty irritated about the mount's performance given what this thing cost me and the presentation of it being the be all/end all of RD mounts.
I am considering going back to the suction cup and using some sort of tether to keep the mirror tap from getting pulled out if/when the suction cup lets go.
No interest in placing the RD on the dash with double sided tape etc.
I've found it's best to have it tucked up as close to the mirror as possible to prevent a long lever causing excessive vibrations. Mine is steady as can be up until about 120+ MPH with the windows down.
Like all of my BM products prior, on my C8 it is as steady as a rock. Make sure the piece that attached to the mirror is fully slid in. It is easy to not have that fully inserted. I could see it vibrating if that piece is not in all the way. It fits tight.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a Blendmount as I've tried multiple alternatives with no success. But the price is out of sight. And shipping on top of that. Any chance of getting free shipping?
They hang to low and obscure your forward view. Try this and place high between the mirror and the drivers side visor. Mine works perfect and didn't break the bank. https://www.ebay.com/itm/11535372603...mis&media=COPY

I was in same boat. On my C6, tried every bargain bracket or mounting method, then bit the bullet. Nothing compared and now while expensive, I dont hesitate. It is sturdy, mounts out of the way, and at a glance can check the alarms. I figure I spent $100k on the car, $220 was nothing comparatively. My approach is do it right or forget it.

I had mine tucked up so close that there was no way to tilt the RD enough to disengage the magnet. Tried having it right under the mirror to shorten the lever arm. Did not seem to change anything.

After reading yours and Kracka's response, I am wondering/thinking this may be the problem and I agree it is a little tricky to seat the mount over the mirror. Going to recheck this. I thought that unless it was seated properly you would not be able to completely tighten the screws (fully compressing the bushings) on that part of the mount.

Does the double sided tape attach to the windshield? Can you post a pic of yours?

My thoughts exactly which is why I bought this and the Redline 360 which saved me from 3 speeding tickets yesterday BTW.

There are promo codes floating around online... I'll see if I can dig one up.
Yes, if I remember right it is kind of U shaped, and has to be slid in around GM mirror mount bracket. It fits tight, but slides right in, when in right position. You can still assemble if not all the way in. As for the comments about blocking view, I have never noticed a problem being tucked up against and slightly behind mirror. I have seen other "rigs" on the info screen or on suction cups way more intrusive to driving vision and look crappy besides. I have one friend who travels with his GM nav running, a suctioned cup Garmin running and Google Maps running on another phone holder......pure ridiculous.

Yes, double sided tape. If you follow the directions and wait a couple of days, it will stay in place, not stand out like a sore thumb and save you all kinds of cash. Clean glass, stick in place, apply a bit of pressure. Let sit overnight without the weight of the detector and it will stay put. Just fit check the location first. Pictures of mine. No problems at all. Pictures show location, but slightly different mount. Ebay mount linked is actually better. Located same position in the C8. Ebay mount in Toyota Tundra Toyota Tundra Ebay mount

^^^ This is exactly what I did in my BMW Z4. Works great. You can buy the metal windshield mount from ebay for about $10-15 based on the manufacturer of your RD. You can buy the mirror taps on Amazon for $15ish. Super easy to install after a little YT video schooling on the tap.

I like Blendmount products, tried a cheap mirror tap that did not work. Blendmount wire kit is a bit pricy but as a number of options i.e. plug insertion sizes. BUT I don't like anything that obstructs vision so would not use their detector mirror mount. I used the Escort Sticky Mount that came with my Passport Max. Bought when it 1st came out for my early, September 2013 received, 2014 C7 Z51. Used it on my two C7's, 2020 C8 and now my E-Ray. It has worked great for 11 years. Like the sticky mount as can easily remove the mount and detector if have to park in a "questionable area."
Top Pic is how it was mounted for 3 of 4 years on my 2020 C8 until had to have my TV Mirror replaced. Turned out it wasn't the mirror but the camera that failed. While we waited for parts, mounted the Sticky Mount low on Dash and plugged into the passenger side 12 volt receptacle. Like the lower detector mount so made it permanent. Removed and installed the Escort Passport Max Detector and Dash Mount on my E-Ray in 5 minutes (lower Pic.)
Like my low dash mount. All wires hidden until they appear near the windshield. I used 3M Dual Lock to attach to the Plastic Dash section. Holds 5 times strong than Velco.
For those interested in the 90 degree plug that fits flush with the dash bottom (Note it's extends far less than the spring door cover) and wires are mounted in a section of hollow molding with 3M Tape under the dash. Other wires hidden behind parts of dash. It's a Philmore Part Number 48-745
I have mine using the stock mount. BM hangs to low in my opinion.
Is yours the one that has some kind of tether to guard against the RD pulling out wire tap when suction cup fails?

I had mine lined up exactly like yours and still it wiggles enough to make objects in mirror difficult to see. Of course if you have the video on it’s not an issue but I have the top down 90% of the time.
Didn’t get a chance to check and see if I don’t have it seated over the mirror correctly.

I just wrapped the power around the mirror before plugging it in, never had an issue

If using a suction cup mount need a Tether!
Used on my two C7's and for 3 years on my 2020 C8 BEFORE I switched to a dash mount. Tether mounts to suction cup holder with stainless steel fishing leader and very small "eye" hook.
Note to stop ant vibration from heavy Escort Passport Max I used a small piece of stiff foam. Note in the ~10 years I used it only "let lose" when parked facing the Sun in hot summer day when what air is left in cup, heats and vacuum reduces. Detector just handing down, with alarm says Intruder!
To install small "eye" hook" used a small drill in a pin vice. When I sold all 3 years just unscrewed and small hole not visible.
I had three different BlendMount brackets on 3 different vehicles for over 20 total years with no issues. My current vehicle is a C8 stingray with no issues.
I suspect the OP's issue is a loose rear view mirror mount.
