Default False pricing

FYI, I went to purchase a 2026 Stingray convertible today. Les Stanford has one advertised today with a discount of $13K off msrp of $93K. Received a call, spent time discussing my 2020 C8 trade, payment, and incidentals. After spending a lot of time talking, I said let's put the numbers down on exactly what I will pay. With that, he said they would give me a 7% discount off msrp. I replied "that's only $6,500.00 and your ad states discount is $13K " . He replied the $13k only applies if you are a GM employee. WHAT A SCAM !!!!!!! By the way, I have taken 2 people up to buy cars from them in the past and have recommended them to others. NO MORE. BUYER BEWARE !

Here is what appears on their website: GM Employee Discount. Requires GM Employee, retiree, or eligible family member. This Program is available only to Eligible Participants, defined as: Active GM and GM Financial employees, Retired GM and GM Financial employees, Former GM employees with more than 5 years of cumulative service, Widows/widowers of former GM employees with more than 5 years of cumulative service.

The moral of the story is that you have to read the "fine print." Otherwise, you will be "false posting."

Lots of dealers do this. The online prices usually include every possible discount and not everyone qualifies for every discount. It’s a garbage way to do business but pretty much all of them do it.

Yep, when I was shopping for my RAM truck dealers were stacking all sorts of discounts in their advertising. Some that very few would qualify for every discount. First responders, military, previous owner, tax incentives for businesses, on the job incentives, cash back rebates, etc.

So if you were a previous ram owner that was in the military but also had a side business as a first responder you may qualify for them all.

This is not news, they do it all the time. Fine print is there for a reason even if you cannot read it since it is so small..... A 14% discount off the current 2026 MY should have been a give away.

IF you have taken 2 people up there to buy cars how did you not know their pricing arrangements?

FYI they don’t have “false pricing” they have a disclaimer.

They call it the Corvette King Price as a way to mask the true name, GM Employee Discount. It's a fine line between being honest and bait and switch since it does show the real name in the info popup.
It's intended to get you excited and call the dealership. The salesperson will try to reel you in now that they got you on the hook. They always want you to talk to a salesperson before any talks on price come up for this very reason.

Yeah.. every dealer plays the same discount game... but this is especially shitty. They are advertising a discount under a different name while knowing that very few of their customers will actually qualify for GM employee pricing.

Nothing illegal or wrong about it. Up in Michigan EVERY Ford/GM/Stellantis dealer advertises Employee Discounts. So much of the population up there qualifies one way or another.

Not a scam as many have already pointed out. On the other hand, they might consider your false post as libel.

The employee discount is not a scam, you obviously need to be a GM employee to receive it

Yep. They had a car I was interested in...then I found out what the discount was comprised of. I won't shop them in the future.

I bought my new C8 from Criswell a couple weeks ago.... 12% discount with no shenanigans

If you expect all car dealer advertisement to be 100% clear, straight forward and correct then you are most likely to face much disappointment.

I agree,
I'd try to stick to either Criswell or MacMulkin if I were purchasing a new C8. I've dealt with both and transactions were flawless every time.

The only way I will deal with a dealer is after they put my offer on paper. The entire offer, including all taxes and fees. I think it lets them know that I'm not stupid and I know how it goes in the car business.

Well I have learned the hard way that unless the finance manager signs off, there is no deal at all. Buyer beware at all times.
