Default Transmission replacement

When an older transmission(2020-22) is replaced, do they ever replace the with one of the newer designs or do they have a warehouse full of the older transmissions? Are all transmission replacements new or do they rebuild the problem transmissions?

If the DCT is replaced you'll probably get one of the newer designs but it takes a little extra work and parts to convert. I have yet to see anyone post a part number of a replacement DCT that is a remanufactured unit. As far as I can tell they are not yet available.

From everything I have read GM replaces the transmission with the latest example. So far I have only read that the transmissions do not get repaired or rebuilt.

I agree with the others, you would get a new transmission, not a rebuild

The new ones are the latest greatest and most recent manufactured.
I was told they are all inspected now for case porosity or "casting defects", I am sure it is die-penetrant or something similar.
The one I got was as pure as the driven snow and looked better than I could ever imagine. This component is an engineering marvel and it really performs well.
My 2023 has never performed this good, got 2,000 miles on My new transmission and it is strong, smooth and a lot of fun to drive.
shift points are perfect and seamless and I paddle shift a LOT.

Did they attempt to just replace your valve body before they replaced the entire transmission?

Makes a lot of sense to put a new transmission in place.
