The C8 popularity has created a market where too many people with little common sense and no patience are spending thousands of dollars unnecessarily. How does the old saying go? “A fool and his money…”

This is very smart marketing! Win over the Corvette/GM Customers for a long term relationship. Plus they’ll buy other GM products.

Who gets to determine who is or isn't a "real enthusiast"?

Hum, I've been on Stingray's C8 list since summer of 2020 .... went onto future variants list when you had to choose ... then Z06 list ... my place in line, or number has only gone down 1 place since they established the Z06 list ... so hope the OP's news is true .... but time will tell if they actually do remove a significant number of "flippers." Or maybe all the flippers are latter in the list than my place?

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Any dealer who sold a car over MSRP has no right to do this. At MRSP -- I can understand. But charging over MSRP is basically "flipping" only they are doing it.
If this dealer sold the OP a car over MSRP and then stopped a future purchase over "flipping" at a higher price, I might be talking to a lawyer.

I know this is a very controversial topic, but I say good for the dealers and score one for the real enthusiasts!
I definitely believe in Free Market Capitalisms and I don't want government or other companies to tell me when and how I can use my own money, however there are times in this world when just because you CAN do something does not mean you should. I put "Flippers" in the same category as other "opportunists/scalpers" like the people who bought up all the hand sanitizer at the start of the pandemic then sold on Ebay for10x times the cost, or people who rent out heavy equipment for double the cost after a tornado rips through a town ... or those that are profiteering by stock piling Baby Formula right now when everyone knows there is a shortage. In many cases there are not laws regarding this behavior so many will justify their actions.
I am not some high and mighty righteous podium thumper, but to me there is a clear distinction between doing something legally vs. ethically.
My only hope is that those on multiple lists to buy and resell, get called out for those actions.

LOL has Stingray sold any new or used C8s over MSRP or some bs inflated rip off price they would call "market value"? If yes, then they only won over the naive...

Lots of us enthusiasts change cars often. I know I have sold cars within a year of owning & it wasn't for profit...

This seems really obnoxious to me if true if this was sprung on deposit holders with no warning. If they were told at the time of putting down a deposit that this would be the case, then it doesn't seem egregious. But if they weren't, then this seem just plain unscrupulous.

I’ve had a driver’s license for 29 years and have owned 34 vehicles. I’ve got 2 more ordered now (one built & one order placed today). So does that mean I’m not an enthusiast or does it mean I am??

I will answer your question but first tell us this: How many lists are you on? How quickly did you plan to Flip your Z06? How upset are you that you might not be able to flip multiple cars?
