I posted it here first so you could see the information while a freelancer turns it into an article. That way, our clicks stay here rather than go to other media outlets. Terrible news.
So not only did GM string us along forever, but they also outright lied to us about the price differential to a base Stingray being in line with the prior gen.
+$45k (after gas guzzler tax) for an engine upgrade package and wider body, with no lightweighting at all? No thanks.
GM just pulled the biggest "blue *****" move in all of automotive history. I don't think they realize how much negative PR/badwill they have generated throughout this whole debacle which culminated in this nonsense.
Oh, and orders open up on the day (July 28) when Q2 GDP figures are released and we officially learn that we're in a recession!

Ouch! At least the z07 package is less than I thought it would be…
EDIT: I take that back… you need to add the aero package too. Skip that.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 will be available for order on July 28. The ultimate supercar experience starts at $106,395, including destination freight charge.
Since the revolutionary mid-engine Corvette Stingray launched in model year 2020, this eighth generation of Corvette has paired world-class performance with interior design, quality materials and refinement that impress buyers at any price point. Our customers are purchasing more than 50 percent of Stingrays with Z51 Performance Package and skewing toward well-equipped 2LT and 3LT vehicles, so we’re confident buyers are ready for more performance and bespoke features.
With a striking, confident stance, expansive tactile feel delivered to driver, and new levels of customization available, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is putting the world on notice. The supercar’s hand-built 5.5L flat plane crank engine is the most powerful production naturally aspirated V8 ever made, and it creates an unmistakable sound as it revs to 8,600 RPM.
The streets will never sound the same when Corvette Z06 enters production in September.

No. Not saying it can't be true, but it's not from GM nor does any news of what you just posted exist anywhere on the internet. Just talked to my neighbor, GM of Naperville Chevy, said no notification of ordering openings on 7/28....and he would 100% know if the cars were able to be ordered then. That's 13 days from now, someone in his position would know.

You have to give them credit for attempting to justify the ridiculous price, "With everything this car offers, the Corvette Z06 remains a more attractively priced option than comparable vehicles like the Audi R8 at $148,700, Porsche 911 GT3 at $169,700, the Lamborghini Huracan Evo and Ferrari F8 Tributo at more than $200,000, and the McLaren 720S at more than $300,000. Is it? >$40k increase over the Stingray makes sense to you? What happened to the price of the car being in-line with the base car price differential with previous generations?
Not surprising that GM saved this news for a Friday afternoon.
