Tires
I wanted to get Invo's but there isn't much sizing for 17's.
Just wanted to see what you guys are running and hear some opinions. If you could, also post where you bought them from because I think I'm going to buy online from either tirerack or discount tire direct.
Thanks guys,
Mick
I run Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires on 17's all around for my street tire.
Amazing tire, quiet, phenomenal in the rain as well. Ran Watkins Glen in the pouring rain on them and stuck like glue

Purchased through Tire Rack. Can be hard to get at this time of the year I find. It's seems they sell out very quickly.

PS..the tread pattern is cool too

In addition to what Lauri said, I would add that they wear well too.
I would have put them on the C6 in a heartbeat, but that sizing was not available at the time.
We got them at Oakville Tire on the South Service Rd (just west of 4th Line). Pricing was within $100 of TireRack's pricing when shipping and duty was included, and that included installation and balancing. We have been very long time customers (over 20 years)

The price? How about $548 for all 4 tires from tirerack!

Sounds like the Hancooks may be the way to go.

They are priced well and they have received great reviews from TireRack.com, etc.
Now if you want to go to a 275 up front, that gives you more options.
The best tires in a 275/295 set up would be the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 however you may want to go to lower cost option such as the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2, Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport or even the General Exclaim UHP which is the lowest price of them all.
I deal with Larry @ Tire Depot in Thornhill 905-882-TIRE.

The reason I ask is that some tires do not take well to heat cycling and will become hard and slick (i.e.: evil handling). I personally had this happen to a set of Yokohama's and I seem to recall it being a problem with early KD's

Lauri: I am able to find the Goodyears in 17's for upfront, but there doesn't seem to be a 295/35/18 for the rear!

Rob: I've heard lots of great reviews about the PS2's and my Dad is trying to convince me to get those too.. but pricing is a little high for me.
Tony: I can't seem to find the Hankooks with sizing for the C5z, but I would consider it if I could find them in the right size.
Livio: Thanks for the PM! I have done a lot of reading, and if I decided to keep the costs lower I had already put the RE760 at the top of my list. Seems like a decent price, and there were a lot of good reviews on them.
I love the tread pattern on the KDW2's and that is what originally attracted me to them. I would strongly consider them because they are affordable, but seems that almost every person that has reviewed them has complained about ridiculous road noise.

ps: toyo owns nitto as well

All but Mark's icecap fall into 2 catagories, both being the same,1: track your car and you will use tires faster
2: put low miles on and the tires go hard from age. I am in group 2, 20,000 km's on in 3 yrs, most agree that a 5 yr old tire it near the end of it's life,a set of tires that last 20,000 miles and cost 600 for a set is in my future,,,,,
ICEDCAPP - 2005
1 set of OEM Goodyear F1 Supercar RF's - good tire, hard ride due to the Run Flat tech. grip was good ... a bit on the noisy side.
3.5 sets of Toyo Proexes T1R's - the first set was amazing ... fantastic grip, quiet, good operational life ... as I moved through the second and third sets, and a set of just rears, I found that the compound was changing from softer to harder ... therefore, they lasted longer, but the grip was not as good. I had these tires on for a trip to the 1/4 Mile strip ... but no Road Course tracks. Unbelievable wet traction!
3 sets of Michelin PS2's - Fantastic grip like the first set of Toyo's ... good wear life, until I started taking the car to Mosport
I found that they were best on the road course just before, and then down to the wear bars
When the tires were brand new on the track, I could feel the thick tread block get squirmy under higher G load corners ... and I could feel the car kind of skip to the outside of the corner, then reestablish grip ... the first time it happend, it kinda freaked me out, but then I got use to it, so I would give myself a little more room to the outside.Durning a trip down to Sebring ... I had a belt break on the DS front tire, so I had to buy one OEM tire at a Caddy dealership down in Florida ... made for an interesting track day at TMP ... three PS2's almost down to the wear bars, and a brand new Goodyear!

Just switched to the new Michelin PS2 ZP tires ... I had them on the Z first, and really like them ... they have a similar grip profile to the regular PS2's ... but the overall feel of the tire is sturdier (being a run flat tire, that makes sense) ... and I had ICEDCAPP out on the track for a Dexter day ... not really pushing it as hard as I normally would have, because I had a passenger with me every session - and the tire performed really well ... the tread block is not as skiddish as the regular PS2's.
On the 2007 Z06 ... I had a set of the OEM tires, which only had about 2,100 kms on them when I bought the car, and they were fine, no real issue ... but no track days with them.
Went to the Michelin PS2 ZP's just before the Watkins Glenn track event ... great tire ... no real drama on the track with them ... excellent grip ... great rain performance (I feel safer in the Vette with these tires during a rain storm, than in my GTP in the dry!
)Wear performance of the ZP's (rated as a 220) is great so far, we have an Apex day next Tuesday ... see if I can punish them a bit!
I noticed last year with ICEDCAPP that with the regular PS2's, I would wear the outside of the tire first, due to being a bit too aggressive trying to keep up with the Z06's through the corners

z060-0, I can't find these tires on TireRack?
I'm switching to Bridgestone RE-11's to give them a try. So far, the fronts are good and I'll try rears once the PS2's get worn out.
A lot of people also like Kumho's for the price/performance - I think the Ecsta MX but not positive if that's the model.
You could try Queens Tire in Acton. They came back with the best price when I bought the Bridgestone fronts. About $730 installed and Tire Rack at $306 each plus shipping, exchange, installation and balancing would have cost the same.
