Default Trailer rental tips

I want to rent a trailer to take my Z06 to the track. Any suggestions where to rent a trailer and/ or what to look for in a trailer.
Or anybody want to rent me their trailer!
I am in Toronto.

I use UHaul flat deck trailers when I move cars. They're 2200lbs empty I think so your total tow load would be 5400lbs if you car is stock weight plus whatever else you load in the truck. Full size 1/2t should be fine towing it all.

Depending on how low your car is you may need boards in the tracks and on the ramps so you don't hit the front spoiler.

I rented 1 from U Haul a while back, great trailer, it was brand new and I was the 1st to rent it, no prob getting the vette on it, it had great hold down straps/winches, and even had fold down fenders over the tires so you could open and close the driver door ....

Your only real rental opion is U-Haul. If you are using them I would specifically ask if they have the aluminum trailers. They will not guarantee but they use steel and the newer lighter aluminium ones which tow like a dream. The front guards as mentioned may be too high to clear your front bumper or air deflector but they are attached with three bolts and pop off in seconds. They have the integrated electric brakes also that work off a standard trailer wiring harness. A borrowed trailer may require the brake assist module to make use of the electric brakes which will make towing a safety concern if you don't have it in the tow vehicle. Food for thought. Good Luck.

I also used a U-Haul trailer 3 or 4 years ago for my Camaro. It worked fine. It was (unfortunately for my poor old truck at the time) one of the steel trailers, so bloody heavy with a ~3500lb Camaro on it! (behind a high-mileage '96 Yukon) Towed fine though, just that the truck could barely maintain ~95km/h going up some of the hills on the 401 on the way to/from Shannonville!! (oh but wait, U-Haul posts a "Maximum 55mph" sticker on their trailers! ).

Default trailer hitch rating question

My hitch, the part with the ball, is rated at 3500 lbs.

Uhaul says I need a 5000 lbs to tow the Z06 and trailer.

Guys in the know, what do you say?

Do I just buy another one, or rent one?

What vehicle are you towing with? Is it the tongue insert that is downrating the hitch or is the hitch itself only 3500 lbs?

I have an 06 Ford Explorer with a V-8 and 7500 lbs. hitch. So I am fine right?
U-haul will not rent if an Explorer is used to tow due to the crashes from 2000 and Firestone tires!

Lawyers and insurance...here we are a decade later with a redesign and RSC in 2006 and the legacy lives on.

I am towing with my Infinity FX45.

I have only towed with it once and bought the ball based on a much lighter trailer load.

How do I check the rating of the hitch itself........

When I searched all I could find was FX45 info showing a 3500lb tow rating. There should be a rating plate on the hitch itself, maybe near the wiring connector if there is a bracket there. Usually a sticker somewhere.
